Re: Brad Hand & Adam Cimber to Cleveland for Francisco Mejía

I'm just thinking out loud. Albertos was very recently our top prospect and and is still very young and has potential. He's having a very forgettable year. Because of that are we saying he is now actually useless as a trade chip/prospect?

Re: Brad Hand & Adam Cimber to Cleveland for Francisco Mejia

Interesting trade.

Going off this then, would something like Albertos for Tyson Ross and Kirby Yates be something people would be willing to do?

Re: The Manny Machado Thread

I'm gonna assume that Clint Frazier and possibly Billy McKinney are in any deal. Maybe Chance Adams.

And would the Yankees then demote Andujar or is he included in a deal too? They have the prospects necessary to make it happen......

Q has a 3.00 ERA and decent peripherals if you take out his first 4 starts. I haven't been worried about him.

Is Hendricks' velo ok? He had a rough patch there but was electric in his last start.

I'm kinda shocked this is the first all star game for Markakis. He had some great years for the Orioles.

Bad couple days for former Cubs in KC. The Royals have demoted right-hander Jason Hammel to the bullpen for the time being, Jeffrey Flanagan of MLB.com was among those to tweet. ... Instead, the once-competent Hammel has begun his age-35 season with a 6.16 ERA and his lowest K/9 (5.8) since 2011 ove...

2018 All Star Game

Rosters announced tonight. I'd think Baez, Contreras and Lester would be locks.

This time last year, we were 2 games under .500 and Wade Davis was our only All Star.

This seems like an odd trade The Rangers have acquired outfielder Austin Jackson, reliever Cory Gearrin and right-hander Jason Bahr from the Giants in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations, according to Texas’ executive vice president of communications, John Blake. I enjoy this "let's see how many relievers we can get in the pen this season" routine. Haven't seen anything like it since that great 2013 season. Who remembers that: Alex Burnett Alberto Cabrera Hisanori Takahashi Eduardo Sanchez Zach Putnam Chang-yong Lim Kameron Loe Henry Rodriguez (not...

Dodgers made a huge trade: The Dodgers have acquired right-handers Dylan Floro and Zach Neal from the Reds, as per a team press release. Los Angeles will also receive some international bonus pool space from Cincinnati in the trade. The Reds will receive minor league right-handers Aneurys Zabala and...

Re: Regular Season Rumors

I like our rotation as is. Darvish comes back soon. Monty has been an incredible 6th man. I'd like to see Mills get a shot as a spot starter and Butler at some point should be back too. Wouldn't be bad to invest in another starter but I wouldn't give up what it would take to get Bundy, unless he get...

I've liked Lugo for some time too, but for all those same reasons are probably why the Mets won't trade him for anything short of a good haul. They should do some rebuilding and he's controllable and effective.

Re: Minor League Musings place holder.

I remember Brett at BN had a nice writeup on Amaya a year or two ago and I've kept an eye on him since. Glad to see his raking.

What are the thoughts on Ademan now? He's struggling at the plate but still has loads of potential and is young for the level, right?

Re: 2018 Actual MLB Draft Day(s) Thread

Riley Thompson, 11th rounder: Thompson has an electric fastball. He sits in the mid-90s even late into games and can push his heater up to 98 -- or even 100. His breaking ball can be an excellent pitch, too. But he hasn't had the stats to match the stuff this season, with a 6.82 ERA in 33 innings fo...

Re: 2018 Actual MLB Draft Day(s) Thread

No Luke Heimlich through two days. Honestly, I'll consider this whole draft a win as long as we don't pick him. The Cubs don't need the bad publicity, but I wonder on a more societal level whether he should forever be barred based on a teenage mistake (his claims of innocence not withstanding). The...

Re: Regular Season Rumors

I like Archer. I'm still made we traded him. At the same time, there are better fits vs. what we'd have to give up.

(On the other hand, the Rays traded Colome for much less than expected so who knows)
