Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 4-26-17

Burks is having an excellent start to the season. That BABIP has a lot of room to drop but the discipline is quite good and his ISO is consistently growing. He should have some decent trade value. Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk On upside and the ability to play a true CF, I'd still want Rasha...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 4-21-17

I can't believe I'm writing this, but don't look know... here comes Dillon Maples. It's just 4 good outings, but after pitching very well in minor league spring training, Maples (who amazingly is still just 24) has strung together 7.1 innings giving up 1 run on 3 hits, 2 walks while striking out 13....

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 4-21-17

Pineda with Bosio could be really intriguing. Totally intriguing, but I can't see the Yankees letting him go without a bidding war. He won't come cheap. Even though he's one of the youngest arms available, if the Cubs are going to spend big, I might want someone with a better, healthier track recor...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 4-21-17

Man it would be cool if Butler stays sharp at AAA and could be poised as a viable, desirable option for the Cubs to get on a decent mid-level contract for the next few years. It really would be great, because then you're going into 2018 looking like Lester,Hendricks,Mongomery,Butler and that open s...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 4-21-17

https://twitter.com/billazbbphotog/status/855477630191124480 Everybody is raving about Ademan; especially Arguello. Legit defensive SS with a good hit tool. This is the first I've seen anyone say he has easy power though. That's exciting. He's sounding more and more like Gleyber Torres. Probably a ...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 4-19-17

Charcer Burks rarely, maybe never lol, gets a mention. Maybe he should..... 2015- 20 years old, .257/.339/.347 in South Bend, 3HR 44RBI 28SB 2016-21 years old, .247/.356/.407 in Myrtle Beach, 11HR 43RBI 23SB Starting off well in Tennessee as a 22 year old. 4th OF types aren't sexy, I get it. But, a...

Cease very likely done after 6 innings (the 1st time he's done that in his career) and over 90 pitches. If so, final line:

6 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 7 K.

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 4-17-17

Candelario with a homer. I think it was Raisin who pointed out Candelario's poor cold weather April's in the past. April 2016 in AA: .203/.347/.342 April 2015 in A+: .250/.299/.333 April 2014 in A+: .213/.351/.375 April 2013 in A-: .229/.356/.313 Spot on, CR! So far this April: .326/.408/.791. Corn...

Candelario with another double, his 7th, and another RBI, his 16th. This is Iowa's 10th game of the season.

Jeimer has 12 hits on the year, 11 of them have been for extra bases.

Ryan Williams, Williams Perez. At least MiLB.com got 50% of the starter's name right.

Re: How HAS our FO done with pitching?

For me, the Cubs minor league pitching situation can be summed up in 3 words "interesting question marks". Of course, there's always the popular notion that all pitching prospects are question marks, but I don't buy into that language. They're plenty of good pitchers in the majors and at o...

Re: How HAS our FO done with pitching?

Stinnett, haven't seen him on a roster. Wonder what's happened with him? He's listed on Tennessee's 7-day DL. No word as to the malady. davell, I too would like to see him move to the pen. That's where he spent the most time in college and there's a decent chance he adds velo if/when he makes the m...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 4-14-17

Interesting pitching day following Cease and Steele doing well. Also, Eloy news from AZ Phil... Eloy Jimenez (on Myrtle Beach 7-day DL - right shoulder bruise) began taking BP this morning, as he gets himself into playing shape prior to playing in EXST games and (eventually) re-joining the Myrtle Be...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 4-13-17

Steele with a good game, 6K/1BB and a couple of doubles in 5 innings. Would be fun if he emerged as a consistent strike-thrower. On top of the rather surprising performance from Steele, good news from Mesa where another pitcher who struggled last season threw a gem. The 6'8 Hudson (Cubs 2015 3rd ro...

Forever against trading good young bats for the myth that is "young pitching." I get the argument, but good young pitching exists. It's not a myth. It's a myth because the youth doesn't do much of anything for you. There is nothing even resembling a semblance of certainty that you're gett...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 4-11-17

This Pedro Silverio cat has 13 Ks in 6.1 innings with just 1 walk and no hits allowed but he's a 22 y/o in SB Apparently Silverio has a mid-90s FB with a good but not great curve and no 3rd pitch as of yet. He struggled with control last season but is off to a good start in that regard so far this ...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 4-10-17

Prospect of the Night: Duane Underwood... =D> 5IP, 4H, 2ER, 1BB, 8K. His stuff is top notch. If he can figure it out, he'll be a heck of an asset. He's still real young, too. He was missing a lot of bats last night, that's a great sign. Watched the game on MiLB.com and the Blue Wahoos announcers we...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 4-9-17

Happ had a quote earlier this year about "working hard and making it a tough decision for the FO to think about him as a tradebait." Or something to that effect anyways. Seems like he is putting his money where his mouth is. I also remember someone speculating how he could become a young,...
