Re: General Cubs Chit-Chat
I apologize for being one of the few people around here, during the offseason, who was against signing Heyward. The idea of being against paying nearly 200 million for a slap hitting corner outfielder? Clearly I was wayyyy off base. Congratulations guys. There is a great brain trust posting here. C...

Seriously, just go away. Good lord. That post epitomizes why this website barely gets any new members. I wasn't trying to troll at all. I sincerely am against working a pitcher hard in order to get a no hitter. We saw back in 2003 how working Prior and Wood hard lead to. But you decided to get nast...

Re: Joe Maddon says things
Man, it's so nice to have a guy in charge who gets it: “There’s two things you’re looking at there. Is the shutout that important? That would be a personal goal as opposed to a team goal. The team goal for me was to not have Jon throw many more pitches after 113 his last time out – and have him spi...

Or a young Cardinals fan. Same thing. Never been a Cardinal fan and I am under 30 years old. But yeah lets get hard over a corner outfielder with great range, but be disgruntled with the innings eater with quality control. No wonder this site cant raise funds. You guys prioritize the wrong things i...

Re: john lackey sucks and we were always right to hate him
So some of you negative nancy's need to step up and admit you were wrong about Lackey. He's been the exact same quality innings eater he was last season (and based on WHIP actually better). Ironically the guy you were hating on has been a much better signing than the slap hitting corner outfielder ...

Re: john lackey sucks and we were always right to hate him
OK? Go start that thread and quit shanghaiing ol' Chiclets-chompers' thread. I've been a fan of Lackey's so far. He's very efficient with his pitch counts, which allows him to eat plenty of innings. And he doesn't beat himself with Walks. The fact that Lackey has a fiery competitive temper is icing...

Re: john lackey sucks and we were always right to hate him
So quit whining and start a "I hate Baez" thread, champ. I've found Baez to be overrated for ages. I can appreciate his defensive ability and quality bat speed, but the continual swinging at pitches outside the zone is frustrating. Seeing Baez waste his potential, because of the awful app...

Re: john lackey sucks and we were always right to hate him
The inning eating, strike throwing machine, John Lackey, gets this thread constantly trying to pick him apart. But Javy Baez, with his great physical tools being wasted by an awful approach, gets to slide. Makes sense.

Re: 2016 Bold Predictions Thread
Cubs give up McKinney, Vogelbach, Torress, Paul Blackburn, and more at the deadline for infield and another top of rotation starter. Torres is highly touted but still a couple years away from the big leagues. I don't know if he's capable of being a center piece for an elite starter. I'll throw a de...

Re: Reminder: Cubs are on 30 Clubs in 30 Days tonight (3/5) on MLB Network
Awful awful episode. I don't think most Cub fans want to hear discussions about the head shaving fundraiser or how everyone will handle increased expectations. What do you expect Rizzo or Bryant to say in response to all eyes being on them this season? You're just going to get generic responses. Wh...

Re: Addison Russell is awesome and deserves a thread
There should be a thread for SC to post all his worries about thing while the rest of us enjoy the 110 win juggernaut. First and foremost congrats on another nice job of trolling. Anyways i don't consider a 100 at bat sample size to be small. And so if that track record of lhp failure continues I d...

Re: Addison Russell is awesome and deserves a thread
Russell platoons with no man. And I love Baez. Russell had a 527 OPS in 109 at bats versus lefties last year. If we're two months into the season and that trend continues I think it should be a serious consideration. Plus in some respects Baez represents an upgrade (particularly in power). I also l...

Re: Addison Russell is awesome and deserves a thread
Russell stated a while back he's hoping to steal more bases. In 244 minor league games he stole 44 bases in 53 opportunities. Anyone think Russell has a decent chance at having over a dozen steals, with a success rate at around 75 percent? Also if Russell, midway through the season, has another hard...

Re: Why is Carrie Muskat tweeting that fowler is back to the Cubs on a 1 year deal?
2013-2015 Fowler OPS: Versus Lefties: 870 Versus Righties: 733 Unless there is genuine concern over Heyward's ability to play Center Field Fowler should be platooning with Schwarber, not Soler. Soler, at his very worst, should be more than capable of putting together a righty OPS of around 733. Mind...

Re: Projecting the 2016 Cubs
David Ross is an automatic out. I wouldn't bring him up as a solution to any problem. And just because the lineup has depth doesn't mean a potential problem area shouldn't be discussed. That's lazy thinking and not something intelligent people do. Possible issues, no matter the importance, shouldn't...

Re: Projecting the 2016 Cubs
Miguel Montero is reaching the age range, especially for a catcher, where production could drastically drop at any point. Contreras, prior to last season, wasn't even a top 20 prospect in his own system. I think it's fair to ask if he can come close to replicating his great 2015 line. And the idea o...

Re: Projecting the 2016 Cubs
I want to throw a possible scenario out here and see the opinions on what could be done. Lets say it's late April to early May and Montero suffers a major injury that requires being out of action for multiple months. I suppose the same question could be asked if Montero, after the first month or tw...

Re: Minor League Prediction Thread
I always go back to the good version of Mark Bellhorn for ceiling. Bellhorn was only good twice, and I think a few years apart too, but otherwise the heavy Iso offense, passable D, switch hitting 2B thing works in my head. --- Draft prediction: Cubs take HS RHP Reggie Lawson with the Fowler comp pi...
