Re: Starting Pitching candidates

I just now realized that there is a Tseng Sung in the minors, but this is not the Tseng that is in the Cubs org (even though I am well aware that he made appearances for the Cubs last season). I feel shame.

Re: Starting Pitching candidates

i think all it does is free montgomery to play the swing role again and make spot starts without relying solely on wilson for left-handed relief when monty is starting. I think if The Cubs get Darvish or bring back Jake Montgomery is traded. who is the sixth starter in that case? http://www.uglypuf...

Re: Politics & Current Events

Can't shame the shameless, dude. I think things like Trump and Fox News are some kind of weird reverse psychology on the part of their supporters. Like, they spent years screaming about Obama like he was the worst president who ever existed, so their response is to turn around and elect maybe the a...

Re: General Baseball Chit-Chat Thread

A big reason I think its Jake was that I seem to remember him giving some kind of quote earlier in the off season specifically about "his numbers" over the past three years. I think its his mantra.

Re: General Baseball Chit-Chat Thread

Jeff Passan wrote a mostly good article about why the offseason has been so slow this season (yes, the free agency system and tanking small market teams has lowered demand greatly...no, it isn't collusion) which you can read here: https://www.yahoo.com/sports/heres-baseballs-economic-system-might-br...

Also, Trump being on Ambien explains a lot. People tend to think of it as a harmless sleep aid, but it can cause some pretty dangerous situations, in addition to just general weird-actions while on it and not actually asleep. https://milk.xyz/articles/the-ambien-walrus-will-steal-your-memories/ But ...

Re: General Chit-Chat thread

Since I know we have some runners here... I started going for runs about a month ago starting on a 2 mile loop on sidewalks/paved bike paths. The first couple times I didn't have any problem, other than having to walk for a bit a couple times during the run. Then, one time my shins really started h...

Re: TV thread

The Magicians season 3 starts tonight if anyone watches that wonderfully silly show other than me. I had it on in the background for the first 6 or 7 episodes of season 1 because I heard some people like it, and I have a good friend who is in late season 1 episdoes. ...I don't think I'm going to ma...

Re: General Chit-Chat thread

This is not even close to a fix, but a cross country coach told me to try walking backwards after runs when my shins were killing me. Maybe it was a placebo effect, but it was normally a great temporary relief.

In what looks like it might be a good size field I think She could do pretty well. And I would prefer her over someone like Booker. She has the platform and resources already. I don't like Booker much at all, and I'd much, much, much, much prefer Booker over Barpo. What in the flying F is going on ...

Re: Winter Olympics 2018

Why doesn't Target sponsor the curling events? Olympic hockey will be better/ more fun with the NHL players since now it will give countries that aren't Canada a legit shot at winning the gold medal. Summer Olympics is too boring to keep me inside watching it when the weather is warm. The winter Ol...

Holy horsefeathers, I watched the first three episodes Black Mirror. Dystopian future doesn't quite describe the show. I had to stop watching because it was too damn depressing, wow. I watched The Entire History of You politely all the way through then ducked out. White Bear and White Christmas wer...

I really don't want to wind up with Cain, partly because meh, but mostly because I can't imagine we sign both Cain and Yu, and Yu is what I want more than anything...not even mentioning what signing Cain does to our chances of signing Harper.

Just finished Mindhunter. If you can get past the main character being a reworking of Jesse Eisenberg in The Social Network, its pretty damn good.
