Re: Addison Russell

It blows my mind that ten years ago I was "who the horsefeathers cares what milton bradley does? he has a 1.000 ops" guy and i could be off, but i think most of us didn't give a horsefeathers back then Yeah, and from what I remember, even the people that didn't like Milton Bradley...they ...

Re: Kyle Hendricks: Somehow Greg Maddux

Probably in 10-15 years they'll be rated this way (in the minds of Cubs fans). Cubs pitchers from this era: 1. Arrieta 2. Hendricks 3. Lester 4. Hamels (if he has a legendary postseason run that leads to a WS) 5. Strop We've got 2, hopefully 3 years left on Lester's deal, and Hendrick's has two mor...

Re: Kyle Hendricks: Somehow Greg Maddux

I really hope Hendricks gets his due alongside Rizzo, Bryant, Lester, Javy, in 10-15 years when everyone looks back at this Cubs era. None of this happens without him somehow unlocking a god mode changeup and succeeding wildly with a profile that no other pitcher in the big leagues has. Game 6 agai...

Re: Politics & Current Events

I keep seeing the comparisons to Puerto Rico, but I think this is a different situation, for better or for worse. People in North Carolina vote, and they generally vote Republican, and that's really the only subset of people he cares about. Even beyond his racism, he didn't give a horsefeathers abou...

"Well Brandon Morrow hasn't pitched since July 15th, but here he comes into the ninth inning of a tied Game 1 to face Christian Yelich with the bases loaded and nobody out. He said yesterday that he didn't feel quite comfortable, but he was willing to give it his best shot should the team need ...

Re: 2018 remainder of season injury thread

You know, for someone whose best quality is supposed to be keeping players loose, fresh, and healthy over the grind of a 6 month season, to the extent that everyone is willing to overlook his questionable/outright bad in game decisions....we've got a lot of players who don't look fresh, loose, or he...

Re: [poll] Who should start the WC game?

It was Sublime, wasn't it? I went back through his posts and outside of a few Bears game ones, he had that meltdown when the Al Franken story came out. Man, he's probably one of those people that thinks the Franken thing was all a setup, right? That's one of my favorite lame conspiracy theories: &q...

Re: [poll] Who should start the WC game?

Also the answer is two bad pitchers from two bad pitching staffs from two decidedly worse NL Central teams than the Cubs who will be competing to extend their season for 4 more games, max.

Re: [poll] Who should start the WC game?

I need to look into whether or not it's possible to ban a person for Sept-Nov only. go ahead and ban him now and i will be very sure to remind you when it is time to unban him no worries This is kind of how I banned sulley for 2 weeks and forgot to un-ban him. At the risk of sounding self-centered....

Re: General Cubs Chit-Chat

Dumb question, but would you consider shifting around the bullpen roles with it looking less likely Morrow will be back? Strop is fine as a fill in closer, but I think he works better as a setup guy who can come in mid-inning and get out of a jam, or face down the heart of an order in the later inn...

Re: General Chit-Chat thread

This is a bit of a weird question, but I've got a business trip coming up in a couple weeks with some flexibility in the dates, and I'm trying to decide between flying out (Chicago to Boston) on 9/11, or moving it up a day to avoid any potential issues at the airport. Have any of you flown on 9/11 r...

The "redemption" narrative that's out there for him and other famous dudes is so stupid. "People, PLEASE. I know we caught Gary jerking off into the refrigerator in the break room multiple times, but we HAVE to let him back into the world of air conditioner repair. It's only fair tha...

Re: Politics & Current Events

if 55 percent of your life is good acts and 45 percent are bad acts, that doesn't make you a good person. I guess we just differ on the percentages there. like of course the media is going to play it that way, but way too many people i know who know better are treating mccain like this historically...

He just doesn't get any sort of credit from me for that event. I know it's more than we'd expect from Trump or a handful of other Republicans at this point, but it's the bare minimum of human decency/civility. All the credit in the world for his military service, but that's about as far as I'm willi...

In the game thread last night I brought up the possibility of facing Degrom, Thor, Nola, Arrieta, Scherzer and whatever is left of Strasburg in a two week period. Well seeing as Nola is pitching right now and Arrieta is pitching tomorrow I did the math and if they stay in the same order the Cubs wi...

Re: homophobe (Daniel Murphy), incoming (to the Cubs)

Wait. Some of you think Daniel Murphy is going to be a bench player? I don't think he should start against lefties. Against righties, deal with the diminished defense. It's definitely a square peg/round hole situation in terms of where he fits in. But it's a good problem to have, and didn't cost us...
