Pretty good article/interview on Lester's pickoffs. It really is amazing how effective they've become, in a total team effort, in shutting down the running game when he's on the mound.

Interesting timing, given his .849 OPS in June. Granted, it was with a .196 batting average, and only 46 PAs, but still.

Re: Politics & Current Events

comey's opening statement: https://www.intelligence.senate.gov/sites/default/files/documents/os-jcomey-060817.pdf After reading that, I fear that there isn't enough "there" there. A lot of wink wink nudge nudge by Trump, but no flat out asking/directing Comey to shut it down Yep...a lot o...

Re: Politics & Current Events

I know there's been a ton of discussion as to why Trump won, or who the Trump base was/is...thought this article was pretty interesting, though I would have liked to have seen the Trump numbers compared to HRC's numbers. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/monkey-cage/wp/2017/06/05/its-time-to-bust-...

Re: Politics & Current Events

Spicer doubling down today is really...something. I enjoyed Twitter last night when it came out, but I obviously wasn't going to make a big deal out of it because it was clearly just a typo gone wrong. When I read the quote from Spicer, I assumed he was kidding too. Then I heard the audio, and I'm f...

Re: Politics & Current Events

Jesus Christ, Fox News has a story on the webpage insinuating that a DNC staffer was killed because of his ties to Wikileaks. That was Breitbart's front page this morning, according to screenshots on twitter. The fringe benefit of Trump becoming increasingly unhinged and impeachable is that the Rig...

Re: Politics & Current Events

Trump admits in an NBC interview that at least part of the reason he fired Comey was because the Russia story was 'fake news'. Some would call that obstruction of justice, which could be pretty serious. At this point, I'm sticking with this approach. https://twitter.com/BronzeHammer/status/782408312...

DAG threatened to resign because he was being scapegoated. Guess what? You should have seen this coming when you wrote the letter. The time to threaten to resign was before Trump asked you to write the letter. Now you're an accomplice . Yep, these reports coming out after he wrote the letter strike...

Re: Politics & Current Events

That means it would very much be in their interests to serve up Trump as a sacrifice, although that would almost certainly mean the end of Pence too. Maybe I'm over-estimating how much that outrage could actually damage them, but I think there's some at least starting to feel it: ] Agree with prett...

Re: Politics & Current Events

I need some sort of Trump Drama Scale from 1-10 with 10 being "Watergate Part 2". There is always something nuts going on and if you read certain websites they make it seem like the Trump admin is one step from total destruction but the scale would probably be at like a 4 or 5. In this hy...

Spicer won't be doing the briefing today because of reservist responsibilities. This was why they said he didn't do it Friday either, so I guess I'm confused, I thought that was like a weekend thing? Sarah Huckabee Sanders performance on Friday was about as embarrassing as I've ever seen somebody o...

The Rangers are 11-16, Hamels is going to be out until at least the ASB it sounds like. What would it take to rent Darvish for the year? Chapman cost Torres. Even if teams were blowing up pen value, I'd be shocked if Darvish doesn't net a top 10ish type prospect, plus more. We just won it all, let ...

Re: Politics & Current Events

It mostly speaks to how sloppily Frankenstein-ed up this mess was just to pass it for the sake of being able to say they passed it. It was made literally just so Trump and the House GOP could say they "won" something. Be it voters or the politicians themselves, so much of this process has...

Re: Politics & Current Events

Assuming it's true, has anyone read or seen any sort of rational explanation for why Congress would be exempt from their own health care plan? At this point it's looking like it's not going to pass in it's current form either way, but still, that was stunning when I first saw it.
