this offseason is horsefeathering crazy

the astros went from being the model of a modern day innovative and progressive organization to being outed as a bunch of dirty cheaters and hiring dusty horsefeathering baker to manage

Re: NL DH by 2021?

Except that in high school (and travel ball), the pitchers are often also the best hitters, because they're the best athletes on the team. So pitchers don't inherently suck at hitting, they just get asked to stop doing it the second they turn pro no Counter-point: yes they're two very different ski...

Re: NL DH by 2021?

The DH is dumb and lame, but this fight was lost when the DH started becoming a regular thing at lower levels of the game and pitchers no longer bothered working on their hitting. Might as well just get it over with. Pitchers don't suck at hitting because they don't work on it enough, they suck at ...

Re: NL DH by 2021?

Pitchers don't suck at hitting because they don't work on it enough, they suck at it because hitting his hard and pitching gets better and better. Scrappy McJunkball could scratch out a hit or two against the scrubs that pitched in yesteryear, not because he put in the time and effort. Right, and p...

Re: NL DH by 2021?

Ugh, the DH is gross and stupid. Oh great, instead of thinking about interesting strategic decisions I get to watch some 36 year old former All-Star with 2 years remaining on his megadeal put up an incredibly mediocre offensive performance. interesting strategic decisions? come on whatever is remot...

Re: Castellanos to Reds 4/64 With Opt Outs

I’m fine not bringing him back at 4/64 and opt outs. None of the 3 Fangraphs systems have him over 2 WAR for this year and he seems pretty capped at 3 wins as his ceiling. Sucks he’s staying in the division though. https://twitter.com/jonheyman/status/1221804098737053701?s=21 Pretty much where I st...

Re: General Baseball Chit-Chat Thread

I'm fascinated to see how the sportswriters parse voting for Ortiz and not for A-Rod since they both tested positive for PED's. Wasn't Ortiz only listed on the 2003 "anonymous" test that has been picked apart and legitimacy questioned? ARod was suspended twice and admitted to taking PEDs ...

Re: The Ricketts family sucks in all kinds of ways

Baseball has a long, long history of horsefeathers owners doing horsefeathers things. The owner of the Red Sox sold Ruth's contract because he had a flop on Broadway. Charles Comisky precipitated the "The Black Sox" scandal by treating his star players lousy. Jeff Luria was allowed to buy...

Re: Build Your 25 Man Team From Last 25 Years

I imagine most of ours will look pretty similar, at least on a few key seasons. That said, here goes... I'm gonna go 26 man too. I'm not going to pick a bunch of relievers. horsefeathers that. Starting position players become bench players and starting pitchers can be relievers just like in the All ...
