Re: The Starting Pitching Trade Candidates

The idea that we'd even think about giving anything up for relievers confuses the hell out of me

Davis, CJ, Uehara, Strop, Rondon

What exactly needs upgrading

Re: Random In-season Musings and Rumors

They destroy the baseball and need starting pitching. Don't see why that's so crazy. because he's been bad and if detroit trades him they are salary dumping him and his 70+M a risk the cubs could've probably afforded to take, but seems like a pretty big risk for milwaukee to take, even with their p...

My only lasting memory of the espn boards was the constant, inane battle between the "Now-icans " and the "Dyna-crats " (or whatever they called themselves). Basically the win now group vs the five year plan group idk why i thought that was the cubs.com thing i remember going on...

speaking of run differentials, holy crap i had no idea the diamondbacks were at +100

and 11.5 games out of first. 10 years ago they won a division and got to the nlcs with a negative RD.

Re: General Cubs Chit-Chat

i just saw this at the brewerfan.net One hot streak shouldn't overshadow how mediocre the Cubs have been all year. Just as an unlucky losing streak shouldn't overshadow how good the Brewers have been. Cubs haven't been hitting all year and Quintana won't fix that. Sure they will be tougher to hit ag...

Re: The Starting Pitching Trade Candidates

Wittenmyer casually mentioned the Cubs 'kicking the tires' on Samardzija, which is the first time I'd seen his name with the Cubs in a while. I continue to think it's a longshot he's traded at all, but he's another in a list of guys who I like a lot more as targets with Quintana in the fold. He's a...

it's not that i can't see a team giving stanton something along the lines of 7/208 at that point...it's that i don't see how much more upside there'd be beyond that for it to be worth the risk for him. a lot obv depends on how things play out between now and then. the sport will continue to be flush...

Re: The Starting Pitching Trade Candidates

also, ask yourself why a team that's approaching seeing the fruits of a rebuild is very open to trading a 26 year old starter Unless they think he's hurt or his arm is about to explode, I'm not a big fan of this logic, since it applies nearly equally to every team and player that could be traded. i...

Re: The Starting Pitching Trade Candidates

Because selling established pitching during a rebuild is a pretty basic step? The alternative is having him wade through the leanest years with the team, blowing ages 26-28 most likely, and upping the chances for injury. The braves are. 500 and have the second best record in baseball since the star...
