Is this some sort of hedge? Either he's good or you're right? You're going to feel dumb next year.

Re: Next Chicago Team To Win a Championship?

Why not the WS? The farm is loaded with positional and pitching talent. They have money to spend. They’ll do it by 2022. It’s not the Hawks, Bears, Bulls. I still think the Cubs are better off because they aren't owned by Reinsdorf, but the Sox do have some very good pieces and lots of payroll flex...

Yeah, this is 2 seasons in a row where he's had long, prolonged, nebulous injuries. Feel free to blame plenty of that on the Cubs' terrible medical staff, please, but it's the kind of thing that tends to not get better as players get older, and just the vague ongoing nature in both cases is worriso...

I don't want to be annoying so I promise I won't say this every time it comes up, but every proposal that includes trading Bryant I have to scream into a pillow to avoid deleting out of spite. It is a bad idea and you should feel bad for considering it, you very bad people you. He's forever trapped...

Re: 2020 roster

it's weird because as disastrous as this season was, i actually feel better about the cubs going forward than i did last offseason. a lot of the most important players with question marks bounced back this season. contreras, bryant, rizzo, darvish, and schwarber all had years that signficantly boos...

... an HOF catcher... I know it’s going to happen. I’m resigned to it. But does average bat, great glove get you in the Hall now for catchers? What’s the difference between Molina and Jason Kendall, AJ Pierzynski, Benito Santiago and a half a dozen other similar catchers who aren’t in the Hall and ...

Re: Movie Thread 2: The Sequel

Hey, if they follow in the path of how great Spider-Verse was, I'm all for it. Is this not probably just a negotiation tactic by Sony? Disney wanted a way bigger cut than they were getting (from 5% to 50%, I think with more financing responsibilities too, but still). Both sides would be hurt by thi...

Re: Movie Thread 2: The Sequel

Well, that stinks, especially since I figure they likely would have just done 1 more. Supposedly 2 more are in the works. This blows. Disney apparently shot for the moon to start negotiations and Sony didn't bother to come back with anything. I suppose the story they have going could continue witho...

Time shenanigans: The more I think about it, Old Steve is more of a filmmaking choice than something that can really be explained. It works fine if Steve reappears on the pad, but as an old man. But they, understandably, wanted the reveal of him sitting by the lake. So...it just happens because it ...

hey dorks, we watched The Avengers (2012) this weekend with the kiddos. They dug it. What's the bare minimum for getting to Endgame? It's hard to consider what the viewing experience would be without the entire history of the MCU. Very fun and enjoyable to watch regardless, sure, but the references...

Re: Movie Thread 2: The Sequel

I think the time travel logic is actually super solid in this film, by far one of the best ever in terms of actually making some kind of scientific/logical sense. Literally, it all checks out other than the idea that Steve lived his whole life and showed back up at the end knowing where to be. His ...

Yeah, there's definitely a lot of logic holes. You can either enjoy the movie despite them, or you can't. If Loki escaped, how does that not change the entire MCU...or at least the Thor movies? I don't understand the time travel mechanisms at play here. They tried, and failed IMO, to explain th...

End Game question so is the new, "imported from a different timeline gamora" still alive? I came away thinking she was still alive, but being a fish out of water she took off to figure things out. I read somewhere during the James Gunn firing/rehiring saga that the script for guardians 3 ...

Or for not trading him when his value was high? That, and it applies potentially to multiple guys on the team. I get the video game appeal of fielding a team of almost nothing but homegrown stud bats, but that's not something likely to pan out, and it's not like the pitching issues were ever going ...

Re: The Ricketts family kind of sucks

Those are the people that each bought 1% of the team at a premium price when they were raising capital a few years back. Doesn't change that it's an unfortunate alliance, or that it was a bad choice even at the time, but it's not as absurdly boneheaded as bringing her in at this point would come off...
