Re: General Chit-Chat thread

My older brother brought Animal House on vhs home one night. Made it 20 mins or so into the movie before my dad put down the newspaper he was reading and yelled at him to “GET THAT FILTH OUT OF MY HOUSE!” The Simpsons were never outlawed at my house however. Animal House was on HBO recently so I re...

Glad to hear the Simpsons being banned was a pretty universal trope. Was not allowed in my house.

Re: Week 11: Vikings at Chicago Sunday night on NBC

You can't tell me there isn't a viable replacement out there who can reliably hit xp's and higher than 72% on FG's w/o the field being the cause. Well there are likely replacements who could hit higher than 72%, maybe even as well as league average (~84% on FG and 95% on PAT). You know who else pro...

Re: Week 11: Vikings at Chicago Sunday night on NBC

He was 13/16 on FGs and 28/28 on XPs before yesterday....... Honestly, those numbers are better than I thought. But he's missed 5 out of 18 FG's now, missing 2 XP's notwithstanding. That just isn't acceptable especially when it appears he doesn't want to get to know his home field because of "...

Re: Addison Russell

I don't think Russell plays another inning for the Chicago Cubs, but I do wonder if they could get away with optioning him to Iowa for the start of the season and hoping he plays well enough to build trade value for a desperate contender. I don't think they will, but I'm just curious about the tech...

Yeah. This is either a solid burn, or just confirmation of how much of a dorky white guy he is. It's Kenny Chesney, if anyone cares. He's not too far off, but he obviously means it in an adoring way towards both of them. He has plenty worse tweets out there. yeah this is one of them. https://pbs.tw...

Re: Guess what an idiot with a gun did this time

Trying to sweatily jerk the sad and floppy "both sides need to work together" schtick is completely empty, because one side is totally wrong and useless in regards to this issue. In my eyes this is a perfect example of what I was trying to say. "If you don't agree with my views you'r...

Sure, Bernie. I mean 10 years ago a Black guy with a Muslim name gathered 4.282m 1.844m votes in FL and GA, but couldn't vote for black candidates in 2018 because of "first time jitters" to exceed the 4.067m and 1.974m needed to win those races. Must have been all those not racist old peop...

We can't keep doing the same thing and almost exclusively blue states continue to pass new laws and the federal govt, with one party controlling both legislative houses for the past 4 years has done... Diddly.

Agreed, can't keep doing the same thing!

Re: Politics & Current Events

Checking on the Senate races yet to be called, it looks like they are all likely to go Republican. As much as I hate to say it, Republicans came out on top yesterday. They won basically every close Senate race, which was pretty much their best case scenario. The results also reinforced Trump's infl...

Interested to hear e how people's local election went around the state and country. DuPage County here, and we are set to go from one D on the country board to 7. County clerk will also be a D, and all the other country seats were close, except for one or two where there wasn't a challenger, but all...

AZ may not be as long of odds as we think? https://twitter.com/robodellaz/status/1060234506181853184 Montana was also called for Tester, so worst case is 46-54. 47-53 would probably be acceptable all things considered. Speaker is at *least* as much a legislative position as it is a political one. The actual nuts and bolts of running Congress is more important than the optics. so here's the question, what does Beto's future hold? Had he been in a state where he had a realistic chance at beating a republican such as Wisconsin, we could be talking about future endeavors.
