Re: Politics & Current Events

I know the issue is the stupid salute, but they couldn't even be bothered to remove the "Notice: Employee Entrance Only" sign before taking the photos. No wonder they're all dumbasses. Everybody is too lazy to do things right.

I find it kind of funny that this thread and the "Chili has gone bad" thread keep floating to the top of the Active Topics page.

Re: Realistic Trade Targets

Realistically, if we're talking Arizona, I wouldn't mind bringing Avila back to be the back up catcher. I know he struggled this past season, but with the right deal it'd be fine, even if he continued to suck and had to be cut. I'd imagine they'd be willing to take pretty little to move on, maybe do...

Let’s say Chili is fired. Who do you want to replace him?

Manny.

But seriously, Andy Barkett from Boston or Jeff Albert from Houston would be the leading candidates I'd want (I'd probably rank Albert 1st).

Re: It's Maddoning

I don't know if I can see Maddon being just straight up fired if they do decide to make a change. It's possible that he'll either "retire" or be promoted into a front office role. It wouldn't necessarily surprise me if the front office and Maddon are having a philosophy difference. Mallee...

2018-19 Manager Shuffle

Scioscia is the first to go, announcing that he is stepping down as manager of the Angels after 19 seasons, which is an amazingly long time for being a manager. Other teams that are or may be making changes (besides the Cubs): Toronto - already fired Gibbons Cincinnati - hasn't made a decision on Ri...

Tiger wins his first tournament since 2013, but Rose managed to birdie 18 to take the FedEx Cup. If he had parred, Tiger would've won it, which is nuts.

Re: Regular Season Rumors

If he was claimed by the Cubs then the Nationals would immediately pull him back. We aren't getting someone that good, but I do know the Cubs are looking. Seems like a fake rumor to me. They may not immediately pull him back, they'd probably at least discuss a deal if that were the case. Frankly, I...

Re: Regular Season Rumors

This is a very very fringe rumor that will probably be shot down in like 2 seconds but there are people on twitter discussing Daniel Murphy and the Cubs. Joel Sherman did report a few mins ago that a team that was not the Yankees claimed Murphy but that’s it for legitimate news sources and obviousl...

Re: Baez impresses Baez

Their WAR difference is .4 - that is pretty meaningless. while i wouldn't say half a win is meaningless, it's actually a difference of .8 I'm seeing 5.1 vs 4.7. Regardless, WAR has standard margin of error - any derived statistical indicator has one. Lowest suggestion I've seen is 15% and I believe...

Re: Regular Season Rumors

All I can see is that someone noticed Duffy changed his handle from Duffkc41 to Duffman and a few Royals fans are freaking out about it. He even responded to them with this https://twitter.com/Duffman/status/1021846642629242881 No harm no foul, but probably not the best time of year to do that.

With his 1 RBI today, Baez enters the All-Star break leading the NL (2nd in the MLB).

Re: Midseason Assessment (aka - what do we need at the deadline?)

He's been essentially the same guy with varying "luck" on HR/FB for each of the past few years. Some of that "luck" is truly luck and some of it was poor command within the strike zone. Given the depth of Houston's pen this year, maybe they've been able to do a better job preven...

Re: Midseason Assessment (aka - what do we need at the deadline?)

While I was absolutely on board with letting Hector Rondon go last off season.....man, he's kicking a lot of ass in Houston this year We'll see how he does in the second half. He's been really good in the past and then got injured/fatigued towards the end of the season. I was ok with letting him go...

Re: Regular Season Rumors

So the Cubs, who have one of the top offenses in baseball, are going to give up their top prospect for an injured, unnecessary, rental... can the Cards please hire Duquette after they fire Mo? That would be excellent.
