Re: International Free Agency, 2019-2020

Badler did his IFA review of the Cubs today: https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/2019-20-mlb-international-reviews-chicago-cubs/ ⋅ Ronnier Quintero is an offensive-minded catcher. Above average bat speed, plus raw power, raw arm strength (60 arm) but the rest of his defense lags behind...

1. Brailyn Márquez 2. Nico Hoerner 3. Brennen Davis 4. Miguel Amaya 5. Chase Strumpf 6. Cole Roederer 7. Ryan Jensen 8. Ethan Hearn 9. Riley Thompson 10. Cory Abbott They dropped a 60 FV on Brailyn. Considering how consistently they rated Hoerner in the top 50 all season, it’s reasonable to expect B...

Offseason Top Prospect Lists

BA has their Cubs' top 10 list coming out on 12/2. BP has theirs coming out on 1/7.

We usually have a specific thread each year so let's try to toss all of them in here.

Just wanted to say Jay Chandrasekhar is a family friend of mine. And he's a Cubs fan.

Re: sometimes deck chairs need to be rearranged

McLeod's still the defacto #3, that new title's fancy. I wouldn't be surprised if his promotion was Harris' cue that the Cubs see McLeod as a GM or higher candidate post-Theo Based on what happened this offseason and everything that's available on Scott Harris, he had clearly jumped ahead of McLeod...

Re: Minor League Musings

I'm really excited by the catching pipeline as well. I tend to view catchers through a lens very similar to TINSTAAP, so volume is key. Between Amaya, Pereda, and those two guys at the lower levels hopefully we've got depth at the position for a while, even if we end up dealing Willson somewhere. W...

Re: Minor League Musings

Ewww...I'd complain more about a pre-injured college pitcher (McLanahan) or Freeman but it's A ball. I honestly thought Davis would be higher. The guys I'd put over him are Franco, Edwards, Thomas, Gorman, Benson maybe, probably Liberatore and Baz...So as low as 8th as high as 4th Maybe it's my hat...

Re: Minor League Musings

BA's not doing a DSL top 20? I could have sworn they did every year...Guess I'll have to wait on their book for anything on Pinango, who made their updated 30 this summer IIRC. I want to know more about Morel's brother Rafael too, seems like a more polished/skilled hitter than Christopher at the sa...

Re: Minor League Musings

Dan (Lansing): Brennen Davis oozes projection and tools so I was surprised to see him at #10 but I understand why considering how stacked the MWL is this year. Considering how quickly he acclimated for a raw talent could he be a top 100 guy by mid season next year? Emily Waldon: Brennan was a lot o...

Re: Minor League Musings

We got Law's thoughts on Marquez above, but he also did a write up on Ryan Lawlor, who put together one of the most dominant stat lines of any Cubs minor league pitcher this season as a reliever. Didn't really have any report on his stuff until now. Another Cubs lefty, Ryan Lawlor, came in later in...

3 Cubs in the MWL top 20: Brailyn Márquez at 3, Brennen Davis at 10 and Riley Thompson (not Cole Roederer!) at 19. Only Wander Franco and Matthew Liberatore were ranked ahead of Brailyn. 3.
