Re: Realistic Trade Targets

Castellanos isn’t a free agent till after 2020 unless I’m misreading Cots.

Getting a RH power hitter to offset an all lefty outfield (assuming the Cubs sign Harper) is a great idea, but it would be easier to fill the gaping hole in the middle infield.

Gassed defense and a lack of pressure that is no longer masking a mediocre secondary.

That was a BS penalty on Burton but Mitchell just can’t make that throw.

That won’t make sense financially if the Cubs are trying to avoid the higher end of the CBT.

Re: Minor League Musings place holder.

Navin (Pasadena, CA): I know the AZL is a big league so I’m not surprised they didn’t make it but did Reivaj Garcia (as a 17-year old middle infielder with good numbers) or Yovanny Cruz (ended the season with a promotion to the NWL) get any considerstion? Thank you! Bill Mitchell: Regarding a coupl...

Re: Minor League Musings place holder.

The Cubs has two prospects in the AZL Top 20. One shouldn’t surprise anyone: 7 Cole Roederer AZL Cubs OF Notes: Age: 18. B-T: L-L. Ht: 6-0. Wt: 175. Drafted: HS—Newhall, Cal., 2017 (2s). Daniel 2:05 Were there any exciting names in Cubs extended or AZL? Reivaj looks interesting (and not just b/c the of the name) Eric A Longenhagen 2:07 Yes, Reivaj Garcia is good. Advanced bat, will probably stay at second base, was very young for the league and still performed. Could be a 6 bat wit...

Re: Realistic Trade Targets

I like Merrifield but I think the Royals will rightfully want more than the Cubs can afford in a prospect package. Additionally, the Cubs can get middle infield and utility help through free agency and better utilize their trade capital for pitching help.

In the Victor Victor and Gaston writeups, Fangraphs also had this: As for what will be left over for the clubs that don’t land these Cubans, there’s some chatter among scouts that some clubs have deals with Mexican prospects who aren’t eligible to sign at the moment, as MLB has shut down the country...

I imagine the Stanford swing is going away. Last year was Stanford's first year with a new coach after Mark Marquess retired. Cubs offering that makes sense. Kris turning that down makes sense.
