Re: General Baseball Chit-Chat Thread

As Matt Clapp has said, the only amusing thing about the AL would be seeing James Paxton eliminate one of Boston or New York in the Wild Card game.

Re: 2018 Actual MLB Draft Day(s) Thread

....The second to last line is based only on signed top 10 round picks. The last line is if we assume all remaining top 10 picks signed at their slot + 5%. Not sure I'm tracking, but upon completion of top-10's, that opens up the full $376K in overage, and should make more overage available. So how...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 6-22-18

I may be having a Friday brain fart, but did we ever get word on what Little was dealing with? Leg injury, possibly hip, per reports from the game. He was never placed on the South Bend DL so it can't be too major. Yeah, I remember the preliminary "in-game" thing about either his hip or g...

I deleted some of my lines because I think it's unnecessary and might create confusion. I kept the last line TT asked for because it makes the most sense to include. 2018 Bonus Pool (signed picks only): $6,178,800 2018 Bonus Pool (signed picks only) Including 5% Overage: $6,487,740 2018 Bonus Pool (...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 6-22-18

At about the mid-point of the season, I'd have Alzolay (injury notwithstanding) and Lange in the top tier of pitching prospects with everyone else in a big debatable morass after that. I guess De La Cruz's upside might set himself apart in a 2nd tier but I can see a clear argument on the other side...

https://twitter.com/JeffPassan/status/1010031979734097920?s=19 Damn, that pipeline busted. At least for now. I REALLY wish we knew what happened with Serrano now. This sucks for the Cubs (and the Padres and Dodgers) but is definitely good for the players who were taken advantage of by that loophole...

The Cubs top five picks in 2017: 1 - Little - SB rotation 2 - Lange - MB rotation 3 - Abbott - MB rotation 4 - Thompson - Tennessee's rotation 5 - Uelmen - MB rotation Some nice results half a season in, especially when you consider this regime's previo...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 6-21-18

We're seeing pitcher movement ... I hope Rollie Lacy gets the call to Myrtle. Am curious if his stuff holds, and he was a college arm, so might as well find out sooner than later. Wait, if Thompson is up, did someone get bumped from that rotation (up or out) that I'm forgetting? Or are they shiftin...

12:49 Vander: Is Bobby Witt Jr. the clear front runner to go 1st overall right now? If so, is there much of a gap between him and whoever would be 2nd? 12:50 Kiley McDaniel: I’ll probably write something longer about this soon, but no.
