Re: General Baseball Chit-Chat Thread

Just thinking about the gut-punch dealt to the Brewers. With their win and Colorodo’s loss today, if only the Brewers could have hung onto that 6-0 lead last night, they’d have pushed a 1 game playoff to advance to a 1 game playoff.

Re: The Cardinals

Goodness, the Indians are just out of their minds. 32-2 in their last 34, is that some kind of record?

With Kluber/Carrasco to Miller, there’s going to be some very low scoring games in the post season.

Re: The Cubs stink

How the horsefeathers do we get swept by the horsefeathering brewers?!?! One team played like it was a do or die situation for them, which it was. The other team played like it was September 30th and the magic number had hit 0 weeks ago, which it hadn't. And speaking of late September, 9/21-9/28 wi...

http://www.bleachernation.com/2017/08/30/a-mystery-team-has-reportedly-emerged-on-justin-verlander-as-waiver-trade-deadline-looms/ With the odd timing of the Leake trade, it kind of makes you wonder if the two are connected- perhaps a salary dump to make room and/or acquire a prospect to deal. The ...

Dodgers Acquire Curtis Granderson https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/08/dodgers-to-acquire-curtis-granderson.html

It seems like only yesterday when he was our annual offseason target.

Get rid of all these bums except for (currently) Contreras until he hits a rough patch, at which point he can go to.

Apparently, the Indue Leagues are choc full of former Cubs prospects this year. I know that few people care about this type of thing, but I get a kick out of it: American Association Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks -Trey McNutt 6.56 ERA, 1.971 WHiP Winnipeg Goldeneyes -Wes Darvill .346/.398/.463 3HR -Tony T...

Re: Cubs Acquire Justin Wilson & Alex Avila for Candelario, Paredes & PTBNL/Cash

The Cubs have mortgaged any chance they have at a long term dynasty over the past 2 seasons to go for wins now. I don't think they are doing the wrong thing, I think they could easily win 1 or 2 more World Series in this stretch. That doesn't change the fact that this is good for the Brewers long t...

Re: Cubs Close to Acquiring Justin Wilson & Alex Avila

I'm glad we managed to cash in Candelerio for something. I know Paredes was one of the last things resembling a prospect in our once mighty farm system, but having a depleted farm system is a lot easier to swallow when you have a big league team like ours.

Re: Random In-season Musings and Rumors

Awfully nice of the Sox to trade away all their good players before playing us next week. I was going to be all like "they didn't; they traded Frazier" then I realized how bad their roster really is They have some OK bats in Abreu, Garcia, and Cabrera, but that pitching makes the 2012-201...

Re: Cubs trade Eloy, Cease, others for Quintana

The White Sox now have 9 prospects in the top 68, and 2 of the top 5, while the Cubs join the Royals as the only 2 teams without a top 100 guy. What else do those two teams have in common? :-) A World Series win followed by abrupt plummet to mediocrity? And FWIW, MLB.com has Jeimer at 81, so there'...
