Re: General Cubs Chit-Chat

I'd disagree but accept Don Larson's perfect game above it because of the circumstances, but I don't think I could buy an argument for any other game. Kerry's start is fairly objectively the best start ever, so you need A LOT of context to put something else above it. Also, the one hit was an error...

Re: The Alex Cobb Thread

Because rosenthal basically said the opposite yesterday, or at least mlbtrade rumors linked to a rosenthal article in the athletic (I don’t subscribe) saying that reports of Cobb asking for 20 mil per and the cubs moving on to Darvish because of Cobb’s Asking price are wrong.

Apparently this was said during Sat morning baseball show on score: https://twitter.com/thecubsreporter/status/949694680513597441 this feels like the si,ultaneous csstro trade and zobrist signing there has to be something else happening contingent upon yelich and cain I think it’s one or the other,...

Re: The Yu Darvish Thread

If years and money were the same, would you prefer Darvish or a return of Jake? This question/prosposal has been brought up in different forms before in here but Darvish in that scenario I’d say 95% of the people who’ve voiced their opinion would pick Darvish (and 100% of the smart poster on here w...

Re: "horsefeathers looks like The Thing" - The Kyle Schwarber Thread

oh yeah i must've skimmed over that detail You literally bolded the words "without the velocity of a pitch" He was thinking bp style tossing compared to real pitching So even if we go with 1 foot added per mph, he’d be adding 80-100 ft with live pitching. 480-500 ft bombs. Dude is a beast.

Re: The Yu Darvish Thread

I still haven't seen any indication that Darvish "may have" reduced his asking price. Darvish is obviously the better pitcher going forward, but if the numbers end up (not that they will) with Darvish @ 6 yrs/$160 mil. and Arrieta @ 4 yrs./$90 mil. it might be a tough decision. I think th...

Re: The Yu Darvish Thread

Im not taking one side ornthe other, just asking: how much more is Jake gonna get than Darvish? Is Darvish over Jake the right choice? I am not sure Jake is going to get more than Darvish but i think Jake has not given signs of coming down from his asking price and Darvish may have. That is why the...

Re: Evan Longoria traded to Giants

I really wanted the Cardinals to be stuck with that contract Longoria getting 15M AAV probably wasn't going to sink the Cardinals at any point in the future. If anything the net positive is that taking on his money wouldn't lower the cost of going after someone like Archer. The Cardinals can trade ...

Re: The Yu Darvish Thread

But, I'll go ahead and make a prediction..... He's going to be a Brave in 2019. They'll show they want him and he'll accept a trade there , that saves us whatever money we can get them to take on, without us getting anything in return. I think he'll see that he's not a full-time player for the Cubs...

he's not some case of unrealized potential, a down injury-plagued 2017 aside (you think this is the time to sell high??). he had accrued damn near 7 fWAR before his 23rd birthday. he's an elite defensive SS who walks and has power, and he's not even 24 yet. I dont care what his WAR is if hes an abu...

Re: Winter Meetings 2017 thread

Baez or Russell to the Padres only seems to make sense to me if there’s a second move following that up, such as a trade with the Rays or Jays for Archer or Stroman. I'm a little slow, but I'm not following. How does trading away a middle infielder make more sense if followed up by a trade for a st...

Re: I like Gold Gloves and I cannot lie: the Jason Heyward thread

Since he's come here and sucked offensively I thought he should almost change his stance be more of what Derrek Lee did. Get way more straight up and not so crouched and incorporate a bigger leg kick. They are both really tall (for a baseball player) and long, athletic guys and that more straight u...
