Re: Cubs Offseason Rumors

legitimately keeping the powder dry for bryce harper wouldn't exactly break my heart. and i fully expect a trade for an SP on top of what looks like a very likely cobb signing. I think we have to sign Harper next yr to keep Bryant beyond 2021. IF Harper doesn't join Bryant in Chicago, Bryant very l...

Re: The Alex Cobb Thread

Cobb, on the Cubs: Cubs (in) on the Cobb, Cobb on the Cubs! Stop it with the corny Cobb puns. I really feel like this was part of the plan from day one, to grow hitters and woo pitchers. Maddon and Hickey are a big part (all?) of that. Archer and Price may have been the intended targets, but I feel...

Re: General Cubs Chit-Chat

Seriously though, he dismissed Bryzzo failed to mention Contreras, and suggested trading Russell, Baez or Happ (as though they were interchangeable) as the only way to guard against complete rotation meltdown. It was silly. But my broader point is that the entire exercise is silly at this point. No...

Re: General Cubs Chit-Chat

He simply stated the Cubs have to replace 2 guys in the starting rotation, which they do. Pointing out Lester's age and how their starting rotation situation can, ominously, turn into a liability relatively quickly doesn't seem like too crazy a stretch. Being ranked #8 isn't some kind of crazy slap...

Tried to make a joke about getting "Dex" from the Cardinals cheap because racist St. Louis.

Autocorrect changed "Dex."

There are some things you don't want to get for cheap in St. Louis.

it gets even better in 2019 when you add harper to the mix.

Don't forget fixed Schwarber or Heyward.

Re: Baez impresses Baez

That'd be effing stupid. I'd prefer we not trade a guy with a damn near historic glove that can hit 25-30 HR. Schwarber seems to be the obvious trade bait. He needs to go be a DH somewhere. Schwarber's value has never been higher. Baez's peaked over the last offseason, but is still higher than it s...

I'd bring him back at the right price. He will receive 25 offers better than my right price, however. So yeah, any realistic scenario where he's back on the Cubs is likely very bad for my favorite team.

Re: Chris Bosio Fired

David, You may well be right. Probably, it's likely that you're right. I doubt that such feedback from a potential free agent would be the "sole" reason that the Cubs would let Bosio go. Certainly if they were committed to keeping Bosio that wouldn't cut much ice. Perhaps, as you suggest,...

Alex Cora just went from player > espn analyst > Astros bench coach > Red Sox manager in the span of like 4 minutes He retired in 2011, spent 4 seasons as an analyst and a full year as bench coach on a good team. A nd apparently worked as the PR's GM in the WBC, for whatever that is worth. Is this ...

Setting aside the terribly unfocused narrative here, he mentions trading 1) Russell at all and 2) Baez OR Russell as if the two were interchangeable, almost ancillary parts of this team.
