Re: 2018/19 Blackhawks march to the lottery

Jesus H. Way to make a 5-0 game a heart stopper. When the Hawks play the way they did in the first period they look like they could beat anybody. Then the 3rd period happened to remind us what they really are. It seemed like there were a lot of desperate passes to nobody in particular by virtually ...

Re: Movie Thread 2: The Sequel

Watched Bohemian Rhapsody and honestly, just watch the Live Aid scene that takes up the last 20-30 min of the movie and skip the rest. The guy that played Freddie Mercury was good but I felt like the movie never quite figured out what they were trying to say about him. From the movie, I couldn't te...

One of the best things about being old and children are now adults....I NEVER HAVE TO GO TO ANY KIND OF AMUSEMENT PARK EVER AGAIN!!! I never hated players for sucking. Even as big a bust as Todd Hundley was, I could never bring myself to hate on him. Just Moises Alou, for some reason. Now, Cubs managers...that's a different story. Don Baylor and Dusty Baker can go straight to hell. Hundley both sucked and was a dick about it. Th...

we went to disney last week. The line at the Avatar ride was insane. We went there right away when it opened early and still waited nearly 2 hours, but while we were in line the app said the line grew to 5 hours and at one point it was 6 hours long. The ride was pretty cool, and I'd guess the mille...

Wait....Moises Alou? Why? Moises Alou was a whining, complaining baby. The Bartman play was just an example of everything wrong with him. Moises Alou never went into the stands to catch a ball in his life yet he threw a fit because of Bartman. Maybe I remember things differently but I can't remembe...

Speaking of chess, I figured out that this is my 10th year as the tournament director for the local youth chess tournament. Participation was "down to year to about 60 players. The first year I ran the tournament we had about 25. The main thing I don’t miss about chess tournaments is getting p...

<smh> Not that I expect anything more enlightened, but don't celebrities have people to help them not sound so tone deaf? When I tried to Google it, it doesn't seem like it got a ton of traction, so it'll probably go unnoticed. Hopefully people will be paying more attention once his suspension ends...

It seems to me that basements would be prevalent in the south.

Why would you think that? It would seem like the perception of the South is that it's basically swampland or formerly swampland.

Watching the Oscars, and I don't miss having a host at all. The next change will probably be not letting the winners make any acceptance speech at all. I only watched maybe 20 minutes but everyone that I saw in that part got cut off by the orchestra. Why not just thank everybody on twitter instead?...

Re: AAF 1st (only?) season

In my opinion the most exciting iteration of one of these leagues is if it becomes a viable alternative to NCAA for future NFL stars. If minor league baseball and college baseball can coexist, why can't the same thing happen in football? The difference is college football makes a lot more money. Bu...

Re: 2018/19 Blackhawks march to the lottery

If Crawford wants to come back next week and throw up three shutouts before March 1 while some top team's goalie blows an ACL, then sure, grab a first round pick for him and let him get back to the playoffs. Other than that, he's the best goalie we're going to have next year (and this year if we ma...

Re: 2018/19 Blackhawks march to the lottery

Crawford has a limited NTC where he has to submit a list of 10 teams that the Hawks can contact regarding a trade. That in addition to the question marks regarding his health make an actual hockey trade unlikely. I think it might be time to stop offering to pay for today's hamburger on Tuesday. I ag...

I'm not sure I want football in the Spring. It feels unnatural.

That's what they said about the USFL and look how that turned out? Oh.

Is this supposed to be a feeder league for the NFL?

It will be interesting to see what happens with Crawford. Do the Hawks even want him back? Things have been going better without him. Should they allow him to decide when he's ready? The guy just spent basically a year recovering from one concussion and then got another. He knows what he's risking b...

The problem with making Catch 22 into a movie or TV show is how to express the funny writing. Having a narrator like Arrested Development might do the trick.

I was thinking yesterday about what the Hawks ought to do going forward. The "plan" had been to tank (or just be incapable of playing any defense at all) and hopefully win one of the top 2 spots in the lottery. The only problem is that they aren't going to draft a top pairing defenseman wi...

It's incredibly easy to talk me into good news re: Harper, but the Cubs being a short term deal favorite makes zero sense. 3 years is the window in which you have enough guaranteed money/arb years to worry about the luxury tax, and a short term deal is almost certainly higher AAV too. If the only r...
