I feel like there's a tier below Gordon's where you'll find the likes of Popov or Kentucky Tavern.

Re: The Cardinals

Dexter Fowler hit a "Bold 3 run homer". As opposed to a meek 3 run homer?

I find the idea that Cubs are the only thing keeping the Cards from being good and winning the division delicious.

Re: The Cubs stink

I dimly remember my dad yelling at those Bruce Sutter, Rick Reuschel, Dave Kingman teams from the late 70s. I think "June swoon" may have been my first words. I grew up in central Illinois. The White Sox weren't on tv or the radio where I grew up. They may as well have been playing on the...

Maybe they were playing the Yankees or the Dodgers. Both those teams played in the NFL though not sure for how long or when it started.

Re: Charmed Brewers get Marlins series moved to Milwaukee

Yeah, that's what they settled on; the Marlins apparently don't have a problem going to Milwaukee. Oh well. the marlins are in the process of having the league approve a sale. They'll do as they are told. Yes, I'm sure the Marlins would be in real danger of having their Jeets-branded sale scuttled ...

https://twitter.com/sahadevsharma/status/908726574106775552 I'm very wary about how much Russell can contribute the rest of the year TBH. If his range isnt there because of pain or the risk of reinjuring the foot, then he can't play SS. Plus coming back after 7 weeks off and no rehab (besides the g...

Re: which sport's title is hardest to repeat?

Hockey has the randomness of Baseball but also the injury factor of football. Baseball has the slight edge for being even more random due to the 5 game series in the first round. Hockey also lets more teams into the playoffs than baseball. Baseball doesn't have a salary cap so it's much easier to br...

And to think, the Sox could have had Earl Cunningham instead if the Cubs hadn't snatched him up with like the negative 3 pick in the draft.

Re: which sport's title is hardest to repeat?

Baseball and it's not even close Hockey and football are wars of attrition. Injuries are a certainty and a few of the wrong ones can be absolutely devastating. There are a lot of random factors that have to come together to repeat in baseball but at least the players aren't actively trying to hurt ...

Urlacher is for sure a Hall of Famer. But I don't think he gets in this time because of Ray Lewis. Don't typically see 2 at the same position going in, especially in the first year. And I think the committee will see it as making Lewis and Urlacher seem like equals as players, which they are not. W...

The 1969 Cubs played the Mets 4 times in September. Fast forward to 2017 and they are playing the Mets 3 times in September. As we all know 3 backwards looks like an E. E also is the first letter in the word "end". There are also 3 letters in the word "end" and as we all know th...

The base assumption that the better players will keep playing football is a faulty one, particularly around this area. Also, you said yourself that football is an expensive sport to sponsor and run, so theoretically as more and more players are encouraged to play less expensive sports (and far safe...

I have a friend on bookface that goes on a tirade every time the Cubs lose. Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if someone else here knew him since he's one of those people that know everyone. His name is Chris Monson.
