Re: 2018 Mid Season Top 20

Yeah, definitely some interesting omissions. How can they miss Pereda? Liked the info on the new guys; Roederer, Davis and Gallardo... Liked the Norwood info, too. He's been extremely dominant (in a small sample size) in Iowa. With that success and his promotions to the majors, you gotta think his c...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 7-28-18

Hudson with another excellent game.... I think he has a sub 3.00 ERA in his last ten games. In his last three games, his ERA is around. 0.65 with a WHIP under 0.95. His FB has been between 91-94mph, so that's on the uptick. I was thinking Hudson would repeat Charlotte in 2019, but he's probably head...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 7-16-18

My mistake. A season ending tear to a muscle directly responsible for the movement of the arm. Not much better, and it definitely doesn't help his value. Well... No... A lat injury is much better than an arm injury. But whatever. You want to make stuff up to complain about, have fun... I won't wast...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 7-16-18

He was already oldish when he broke out as a prospect and just suffered a season ending arm injury, but the absolute biggest reason this tarnishes his prospectness is he's lost a year of development. Wow, it's just one sentence, but you fit in three wrong statements- that's tough to do. 1- He wasn'...

No, nothing to imagine there. Someone said there were no glowing reports about Underwood and I simply corrected him by pointing a glowing report... Sorry that bothered you so much.

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 7-16-18

Normal ebb and flow? Underwood and Clifton? Good lord. Our system has been a disappointment this year. Period. Duh, there's guys going to move up and down lists, thanks for that. In our case, the high upside types that we needed to have good years, have NOT for the most part. Those guys moving back...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 7-16-18

I don't agree with this at all. Any season-ending arm injury to a pitching arm is damning enough, with or without surgery, but then his performance when on the field was decidedly meh. It was only 8 starts, but he was striking out 2 guys less per 9 than last year in AA, while still throwing loads o...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 7-16-18

Lange is doing what was expected of him, Marquez is moving way up, when others have faltered. That's just the ebb and flow of a normal farm system. De La Cruz and Albertos have faded, but Alzolay hasn't. He's shutdown, but no surgery. He's just as big a prospect as was to start the year. And, Marqu...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 7-16-18

Oh, ya gotta love Brailyn Marquez single-handedly saving the Cubs organization's pitching prospect list after losing Alzolay to injury, De La Cruz to suspension and Albertos to Steve Blass disease. 5 starts, 1 ER in each of them. Gotta love consistency. 21.2 IP, 13 H, 7 BB, 29 K, 2.08 ERA, 0.92 WHI...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 7-15-18

This is a thing with promoting young players really aggressively. If they do great while being really young, it's "Wow", and you know something is terrific. But if they stink, as Ademan has done, it's hard to evaluate. Does he stink because he doesn't have it and never will? Or can we exc...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 7-15-18

The point is not to ignore age entirely, the point is that universally bad results shouldn't be graded on an age curve. "Universal"?--- So, his 2017 Eugene numbers don't count? For me the only thing 2018 says about ademan is that as an underdeveloped 19 yr old he wasn't ready for high A b...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 7-15-18

His age and the lower threshold of his position gives him opportunity to rebound, but there's nothing about that we can look at and think it portends well if he only were a few months older at this level. Well, you’re just acknowledging then ignoring Ademan’s age differential with respect to his re...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 7-15-18

Hence, why he took the college route? Using his freshman Stanford season is worthless. All we know is that at this current juncture, Ademan's season is a disappointment from what we were hoping. No reason to bother spinning anything else. It was actually the opposite of worthless. I was comparing t...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 7-15-18

I haven’t seen anything from Ademan that indicates that he’s a shoo-in to be a strong hitter at any level of full season ball yet. certainly capable of doing so, but taking a few walks while the bat gets knocked out of your hands in low/high A doesn’t fill me with confidence. I don't see how his pl...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 7-15-18

Well, at 18, he was .244 .269 .378 .647 in SB... What do you think he'd do as 20 year old?

This year, his .OBP has already jumped in High A. Next year in low A, I'd guess his .OBP would be over .400.

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 7-15-18

To be fair, Hoerner is older than Ademan... I think almost a year and a half older. For perspective, if Ademan played in SB next year, I'd bet he'd put up some fantastic numbers. But, yeah, Hoerner is ripping through the lower levels of the system. A year from now, I'm sure he'll be in Tennessee. An...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 7-13-18

Another day, another hit & walk for Hoerner, Something I realized today is Hoerner and Ademan are probably gonna be in the same spot next year... I imagine both of them both starting in MB next year and both of them looking at early promotions to Tennessee. These things work themselves out, it'l...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 7-9-18

Watched the Little game last night. What was most improved was his location. FB was 92-93 in the first couple of innings, 88-91 after that. Curve was consistently 80. Didn't get a velo reading on the change. Yeah, that's been him all year. Huge disappointment. The game he left early in June, then m...

Re: 2018 Mid Season Top 20

Lot of love for Amaya, that's great... I still have Alzolay ahead of Amaya.

Alzolay is much more advanced, as he should be. Amaya has only hit in 3/5th's of a season in low A and Alzolay's ceiling is just as high as Amaya's.

He's interesting- lot of HR's and a bunch of SB's this year... Just too over aged for prospect status for me, but who knows.
