Re: Regular Season Rumors

https://sports.yahoo.com/marcus-stroman-blue-jays-f-221800191.html Steve Buffery of the Toronto Sun reports that while Stroman was initially cool, calm, and collected when speaking to the media after the game, he eventually snapped. Stroman was asked by a reporter about breaking into professional b...

My self-cred as a real soccer fan took a hit today, because I forgot completely about the world cup final until I had slept through it.

Re: Baez impresses Baez

I don’t think “Javy doesn’t know names” is a meme anymore. It’s just real life. It started when he was in like AA and he was talking about how great his team's lineup was, and he knew himself and two other top-100 prospects. He went down the list saying "some guy" for everyone else. Edit:...

Now that the Cubs are back in first place, I think this is the thread that should be used to discuss the VBs (instead of the "Teams that will not win the WS" thread. Marte HRs in the first and the VBs are already down. It should always have been used to discuss the Brewers. Y'all spook to...

Oooouuuuuchhhh https://youtu.be/CiXquXIY-gY The aces only being 96% to win reminds me that a lot of poker odds are not intuitive. How so? The middle pair of Kings could have put together a flush that would have won the hand. The odds of putting together a flush using four board cards, or getting 9-...

Basically I am pretty sure we are the American version of the generation of Romans born around 70 bc. The Republic can’t be going anywhere no matter how fast norms and institutions are stripped away, right? The only reason our fascist takeover will be less murder-y is because it’s more corrupt and f...

The Senate and the presidency were the original gerrymanders, basically to protect slave states. Republicans have controlled one or both while receiving a lower vote total for most of the current century.

Has nothing to do with anything, really, in light of the rule above, but I recall that playoff walkoff HR by the Mets; Todd Pratt I think ran onto the field & picked up the hitter in celebration before he even got to 2b, he never did cross home due to the celebration. I'm pretty sure that impac...

Ant-Man and Wasp was fun. Nothing new, but fun. It was kind of nice to scale the drama down a bit and not have the fate of the whole world/universe hinge on one plot line. Also... Did they just set up a Thunderbolts movie at the end there between The Ghost and Goliath? It was alright, but not as go...
