Re: homophobe (Daniel Murphy), incoming (to the Cubs)

This is great: Classic Theo, pedal to the floor at all times...until you've used up all the resources. Then leave and move on to the next big market team in a favorable situation. I must have missed this "favorable situation" that the Cubs found themselves in back in 2011. Javier Baez, Br...

Re: homophobe (Daniel Murphy), incoming (to the Cubs)

I don't wanna get into a habit of paying attention to athlete tweets about politics because I'm not ready to give up sports entirely.

Re: homophobe (Daniel Murphy), incoming (to the Cubs)

OK, one more Brewersfan fun quote: If I liked gambling, I'd bet pretty good money on the Brewers having a better record than the Cubs over the next 7 years or so. They have this mass blind spot where they can see the bad contracts and the farm system ranking but can't see the giant mass of young pos...

Re: homophobe (Daniel Murphy), incoming (to the Cubs)

Remember: At brewerfan.net, it is considered somewhat controversial to suggest that Theo "Three Rings" Epstein might be a better team-runner than David "We finished second one time" Stearns.

How did he get to the Cubs on waivers? Does he have anything left?

Very little.

People clear waivers way easier than everyone assumes, for whatever reason. Blocking unless you really intend on making a trade seems to be pretty rare, it's an unwritten agreement.

Honestly, I forgot about the homophobia, I just still hate him for hitting a million 335 foot pop-fly home runs during the 2015 NLCS.

But now it turns out I have a real reason to hate him, too.

Re: The Cardinals

Baseball is mostly liked by white American men, and white American men are an incredibly racist demographic. St. Louis is worse, but Cubs fans are pretty bad too.

It's really not. This is what happens to pitchers, especially pitchers with arm injuries in their past. We've been lucky it hasn't happened more often.

"His shoulder injury might be permanently damaging him as a hitter but at least he had a .787 OPS in 47 July PAs before throwing in the towel" is peak Duke and he didn't even post it.

Lol at anyone believing this might “take Trump down.”

There is already a tape of him bragging about sexual assault and this country cares way more about its white women than it does black people.

Counterpoint: The minor league forums fawn over lots of guys who end up becoming wet turds in the majors.

Re: Politics & Current Events

I'm paranoid as horsefeathers but I am like 60% convinced at best we are actually going to get a free and fair election in November. I assume that doesn't already factor in all the gerrymandering that has taken place as well as voter suppression? Not including ordinary levels of voter suppression. ...

That was a 3 out of 10 bat flip, arguably not even a flip but a drop, with a 17/10 run around the bases.

Also, the 2006 Red Sox finished with a negative run differential and accrued the 22nd-highest position player WAR. We're not the 2006 Red Sox. On Sunday, August 13, 2006, the Red Sox were 20 games over .500 with a +65 run differential and the second-best offense in baseball. But the main point of c...
