Re: Guess what an idiot with a gun did this time

I'm done caring about why they want what they want. I want to make sure that the majority that don't want it shows up on election days and grinds their desires to dust.

Re: Guess what an idiot with a gun did this time

A certain percentage of people will freeze the first time they are in a firefight situation no matter how much training they have had. This is not a moral failure.

Re: General Baseball Chit-Chat Thread

I always liked the idea of being able to send out the players in any order you want until you've gone through the entire lineup, then repeat the process.

Re: Guess what an idiot with a gun did this time

When 35% of this country gets their news solely from Fox News and other far right wing propaganda sources the rest of us have no chance. This country is horsefeathers up We have a chance. It's just going to take a long, consistent effort to remove all the in-built advantages Republicans have given ...

In the Kentucky state house today, a Democrat won a seat by 27 points that Trump had won by 49.

Democrats are fired up.

And that goes for anywhere in public, because it's movie theaters, concerts, workplaces, etc where mass shootings happen. Here's what's really dumb. The call for a focus on mental health is a plea for intervention. Find high risk individuals and stop them from being a position to commit crimes. Oka...

Re: Politics & Current Events

Under the previous map, in 2012, Democrats received 83,000 more votes than Republicans in House elections in PA. This resulted in 13 of 18 seats going to Republicans. It's hard to understate how ridiculous this stuff is.

I think we're missing the subtle racism at play. We immediately see Mark Prior in the 1989 NLCS as fake, but we all believed Alfonso Soriano orchestrated the Trail of Tears.

Re: Politics & Current Events

I'm again not taking anything for granted. Maybe there's another Bush v. Gore in this one or something.

But 95 times out of 100, a federal court is going to look at this and say "state constitutional issue, state supreme court ruled, not our problem."

Re: Politics & Current Events

Pennsylvania's new congressional map is a pretty big deal. The previous map gave Republicans a lock on 13/18 seats against vote totals that would indicate a 9/9 split most years. The new map follows logical demographic and geographic boundaries and lends itself to a 9/9 split in close years. That's...

Re: NL Central Also-Rans: Reds, Brewers, Pirates

The depth thing is just beyond silly and I see it all the time. Three of Happ/Almora/Zobrist/Baez/Schwarber/LaStella comes off the bench everyday and each is good enough to start for most teams. Its almost like these yahoos are docking the Cubs for not having figured out a way to have 10 players in...

There's a long way to go from "someone is going to end up in court at some point" to "Trump's days are numbered."

Trump is never going to be removed from office, if nothing else as revenge for Bill Clinton.

Re: Offseason Transactions

Padres fans now know how I felt when we signed Soriano... Ownership picking the wrong year and the wrong guy to open the pocketbook for. I'm not defending Hendry, but there's a humongous difference between those 2 moves. At least the Cubs signed a bunch that off season. Bought themselves into being...

Re: NL Central Also-Rans: Reds, Brewers, Pirates

At some point the Cubs' model of buying a rotation rather than developing one, and having a so-so bullpen will catch up to them. how is this even a thought a person has? and why does it seem like 95% of baseball fans online think that there's something inherently better about players who were draft...

Now we're gonna have to pay the Red Sox more compensation.
