Re: CDC Info on COVID-19 (Corona virus)

California is opening steadily, only has 29% of its population fully vaccinated, has had plenty of variant presence for as long as we've been measuring it, and our cases have continued to stay low and our hospitalizations have been setting new lows almost daily for a month. Whtaever's happening in M...

I just got a text from a health insurance provider that I haven't had an account with in at least five years, letting me know they have shots available and bribing me with a $25 gift card.

Re: Does Pat Hughes have a gambling problem?

It never ceases to amaze me who all is on Cameo. I guess the money can add up but even big name celebrities usually aren't charging more than a couple hundred bucks. To me that wouldn't be worth the hassle if I had millions in the bank. Then again, they probably have a ton of free time so might as ...

Re: CDC Info on COVID-19 (Corona virus)

We're getting live sporting events and concerts indoors back in a couple of weeks out here. Venues can choose between 10% capacity for everyone or 50% capacity if they check to make sure everyone is vaccinated or recently tested. On Jan. 11, my county had 544 COVID patients in ICU beds. Today that i...

Re: CDC Info on COVID-19 (Corona virus)

More than 4 million doses reported today, 7-day average up to 3.07m. Assuming everyone unvaccinated is vulnerable, we are shrinking the vulnerable population by about 4% every week and that number will grow as the susceptible pool shrinks. I'm willing to bet that the plateau breaks within a few week...

7-day average vaccine doses administered hit 2.99m today. We are essentially vaccinating 1% of the population every two days. Tomorrow we'll hit 40% of adults having at least one dose. and yet... We'd be in the middle of the fourth wave right now instead of an inconvenient plateau without them. We'...

Re: CDC Info on COVID-19 (Corona virus)

Have we seen a hospitalization rate increase yet with the cases rising? In some regions, yes. MIchigan definitely. Illinois a little bit. Some other northern states a bit. Is the rate of correlation (i just made that up so hopefully it makes sense) between cases/hospitalizations shifting from pre-v...

Out here, the standards for getting into more permissive restriction tiers become easier as we hit different vaccination milestones among the most vulnerable (poor and minority) zip codes.

Re: CDC Info on COVID-19 (Corona virus)

https://www.bloomberg.com/graphics/covid-vaccine-tracker-global-distribution/#us US is up to 2.77m doses per day. Assuming 80% of adults are willing (optimistic, probably), that works out to about 5% of the willing adult population per week. We're about halfway through that group. We're also expecte...

Re: CDC Info on COVID-19 (Corona virus)

Yeah, that is, sadly, likely around where we're initially going to end up. I have no idea what it's going to take to get a good 75% of the over 16 population vaccinated. I don't even know if it's possible. Impossible. It sounds bad, but could this surge bump up those numbers a little bit? Anecdotal...

My state has a 1.6% test positivity rate, we're averaging 1 new case per day per 15k people, and we have the lowest hospital and ICU totals since the pandemic began by a comfortable margin. All of those numbers are still, as of this moment, trending downward. About 40% of adults have had at least on...

Re: Are we getting Black Monday II? Bears offseason thread

So, the Bears signed former Chiefs RB, Damien Williams to a 1-year deal today. Pretty good signing. He opted out this past season, but could have easily been Superbowl MVP the last time he stepped onto the field (if it wasn't a QB only award). Turns 29 beginning of next month, but a really solid RB...

CDC reported 3.4m doses today, enough for 1 per every 100 people in the last 24 hours. There's expected to be a huge dump of Johnson and Johnson vaccines next week as they scramble to hit their "20m by end of March" goal which they still swear they are going to succeed on. Here in Californ...

What do the numbers look like recently? I have been/am lazy. Nationally, very plateaued. We stalled just above reaching previous record lows about a week or two ago. It's pretty regional. Michigan is trending up, most places are fairly level, west coast is still improving rapidly. This is right abo...

Let's check in on how things are going with this whole COVID in America thing... https://youtu.be/Sj8UbmdV7bk Yeah, and you were right, plateaus do suck. I still don't expect this one to last long. A plateau today is a drop in three weeks when we have 10% more adults vaccinated. At least hospitaliz...
