Re: Kyle Hendricks: Somehow Greg Maddux

Probably in 10-15 years they'll be rated this way (in the minds of Cubs fans). Cubs pitchers from this era: 1. Arrieta 2. Hendricks 3. Lester 4. Hamels (if he has a legendary postseason run that leads to a WS) 5. Strop I'm pretty sure the vast majority of our fan base thinks Strop sucks, or at the ...

Re: Kyle Hendricks: Somehow Greg Maddux

I really hope Hendricks gets his due alongside Rizzo, Bryant, Lester, Javy, in 10-15 years when everyone looks back at this Cubs era. None of this happens without him somehow unlocking a god mode changeup and succeeding wildly with a profile that no other pitcher in the big leagues has. Absolutely,...

Re: 2018 remainder of season injury thread

He was at 21 pitches, it was a fine move to ride with him in the situation they were in. Wrong. 21 pitches is not just 21 pitches when it is spread out across multiple innings. He had to warm up and come in the game, then pitch. Then he had to sit and wait, warm up again and pitch another inning. A...

Re: 2018 remainder of season injury thread

I mean how likely is it really that he pulls a hamstring running 90 feet? I do get that it’s an unnecessary risk with Strop already having pitched 1.2 innings, but apparently Joe was going to have him close it out and go 2.2? Real glad we at least preserved the history and uniqueness of no DH in th...

Re: General Cubs Chit-Chat

Hopefully it’s just a grade 1 strain for Pedro. Tanaka hurt BOTH his hamstrings running the bases and had a grade 1 and only missed 1 start and Jake last year had a grade 1 and missed only 2 starts (but we built a decent lead over that time, iirc, and maybe it was being extra careful, he did it on t...

Re: It’s not me, it’s Yu

The only thing that annoys me about the Brewers' moves is that they snagged Yelich. I really, really, really wanted the Cubs to end up with him once he was obviously available, and there was no reason to not go all out on him, even with the Harper plan. Yup. I wanted him really bad and I’m sure we ...

Re: #NotAllPitchers

I wonder if any White Sox fans are looking over at the Mets rotation with DeGrom, Thor, Matz, and Harvey in 2015 and starting to feel a little less comfortable about the future. Or heck, our 2003 rotation with Prior, Wood, Zambrano and Clement. Nah, I'm sure they've convinced themselves that buildi...

Re: Burt Reynolds dead at age 82

The Longest Yard was an early favorite movie for me. I think he mostly just wanted to have fun and horsefeathers women, and that's what he did. RIP He was kind of the proto-Adam Sandler in how they mostly just look at movies as an excuse to hang out with their buddies and get their vacations/fantas...

Re: I like Gold Gloves and I cannot lie: the Jason Heyward thread

Saw a tweet yesterday (I think) that Heyward hasn’t done any sort of baseball activities yet. So he’s probably going to be out for a while still, hopefully he’s able to get a solid ~10 games in before the playoffs.

Re: General Cubs Chit-Chat

From 2012-2014, the Cubs used 13 out of 14 picks between the supplemental first round and the 5th round on pitchers. Their plan definitely involved having some major league pitchers by now. If that part of the process had gone according to plan, maybe we'd still have Eloy Jimenez or signing Darvish...

Re: General Cubs Chit-Chat

that offseason was not great The offseason moves were not great, but not because of the Morrow signing. It's because of the Darvish + Chatwood signings and how little we've gotten from them. Letting Wade Davis leave and signing Morrow was the right thing to do. I guess we could've traded for anothe...
