Re: 2019 Actual MLB Draft Day(s) Thread

Anyone know why Wyatt Hendrie hasn't signed yet? I've looked on Twitter, but can't find a thing. https://twitter.com/MLBPipeline/status/1148670082652016640 The two players in the first 10 rounds most likely to spurn pro contracts are Rangers seventh-rounder Brandon Sproat and Cubs ninth-rounder Wya...

Re: Minor League Musings

I agree 100% that it would kill parity. No it wouldn't. The biggest spenders aren't going to be able to horde everybody any more than they already can. A team's operating budget will still be a budget. If a Baltimore only wants to spend $60m on the major league roster they will have all the money i...

Re: Minor League Musings

https://twitter.com/e_henn34/status/1148629578753163264 I hate that take so damn much (abolish the draft system). I don't love the current system, but just outright getting rid of the draft would create all kinds of chaos. If you hard capped it like how teams spend on IFAs right now then the top pl...

Yohendrick Pinango came into the day 4th among 17U DSLers with 120+ PAs in wRC+, wOBA, and Rs, 2nd in IsoSLG and SBs, 3rd in BA and BABIP, 1st in doubles and K rate...2/5 with a double today, ~.360/.450/.480 with a 7.5% K rate in 132 PAs Definitely been fun to follow. Re: Minor League Musings

As much as I'd love a better hitter/pitcher balance, at the end of the day it's more important that the farm is good rather than balanced. I think we would all agree on this. This is why it was so hard watching them piss away the 2017 draft on all pitching; especially since there were 2 first round...

Updated signing amounts: Ronnier Quintero, C, Dominican Republic - $2,900,000 Kevin Made, SS, Dominican Republic - $1,500,000 Brayan Altuve, C, Venezuela - $1,000,000 That's $5.4 million, now just $1,700 over the cap. Fairly certain that one of them just got rounded up the additional $1,700. That's...

Re: International Free Agency, 2019-2020

So, for just those three top prospects, the Cubs are already up to $5.7 million in spending, which is only a bit under their current $6.15 million pool. They could add more pool space in trade (they already added $750,000 when they traded Pedro Araujo to the Orioles), but they could also just look ...

Quintero was ranked 6th across the board by Ben Badler, Jesse Sanchez and Kiley McDaniel/Erik Logenhagwn. Quintero’s bonus is high in the strict cap era but the 4 bonuses we have for guys ranked ahead of him are all higher so his bonus and ranking are at least in line. That said, we should be caref...

I'm sure you know that DSL performances are fairly meaningless, but Jose Lopez (CF - Cubs 2), Yohendrick Pinango (OF - Cubs 1), and Rafael Morel (SS - Cubs 1) are the more highly thought of guys.
