Re: 2018 Actual MLB Draft Day(s) Thread

Well, he may be. If he got 450k, then it's a pretty major under slot, since pick value is 762,900. Really need clarification on this one, as it could go either way obviously. And Richan was quoted as saying he was expecting 4-6th rounds. $450k is slightly above slot for our pick in the 4th round. F...

Re: 2018 Actual MLB Draft Day(s) Thread

I remember a couple years ago some team used a late round pick to draft a kid as a gesture. I think he had like a career-ending injury or something. Some light googling hasn't helped me out - anyone know what I'm talking about? It was the Diamondbacks and they drafted Cory Hahn. I believe they’ve s...

Well Tyson Miller had an excellent game (7 shutout ip, 3 h, 7/1 k/bb) so if he’s turned a corner this season that would be a nice development.

Bulls win tiebreaker with Kings so they’re set for 6th pending lottery. The Pelicans pick is 22nd.

Admittedly “bony stomach” is the one injury a Mets pitcher hasn’t been DL’d with yet.

Re: Cubs Offseason Rumors

Yeah scratch the extension nonsense, got some good feedback there thanks. That two top 5 prospects price for Cole would be amazing. If Happ is involved then please squeeze in McCutchen. I think I’d look on going the other way if we were going to expand the deal. Happ and Montgomery along with a cou...

It does have the Maddon-Hickey connection.

Guess he’s going to the Rangers. I wouldn’t have minded it as a BOR flier, but good luck with him in the Ballpark of Arlington.

Re: The Mock Off Season Thread

Hard pass on Salazar for Happ. I like Salazar’s arm despite all the injuries but not nearly enough to give up one of the MLers. These pre-injured (as always this means major arm surgeries) pitchers are all fun and games on low commit deals for relatively low responsibility gigs like locking down th...

Submariner Makita was posted yesterday so he’ll be another option. I’d be very interested to bring him in on a 2 year plus an option contract since I don’t imagine the posting fee will be too high. https://www.japantimes.co.jp/sports/2017/12/11/baseball/japanese-baseball/seibu-submits-application-ka...

Also interesting that you haven't seen the Cubs attached to too many of the big names in the next IFA period: https://twitter.com/JeffPassan/status/933081643610509312 Could be really promising for the organization. I know Maitan has lost a few supporters, but that is an incredible talent and would b...

Re: Offseason Transactions

Stanton to the Cards has some big implications, but a ton of hurdles. He's obviously a huge offensive force and a huge contract, not to mention he will likely be limited defensively in the latter years of his contract. It's definitely an interesting risk/reward. But the team I'm actually scared of s...

Here's another mock offseason to chew on. I'll caveat this as it wouldn't necessarily be what I'd do. Sign Alex Cobb 4 years/$56 million Sign Wade Miley 1 year/$8 million Trade Ian Happ and Victor Caratini for Roberto Osuna and Thomas Pannone Sign Rene Rivera 1 year/$4 million Sign Alain Tamayo 5 ye...

Re: The Mock Off Season Thread

Since Cobb has a decent chance of being brought in and Chatwood, Miley, Chacin all available as BOR fliers, I’d be interested in seeing Happ used to bring in late inning pen arms. If possible, JA Happ would be excellent as well, but Osuna is interesting from Toronto. Does Ian Happ for Roberto Osuna ...

More trade offer ideas! Almora, Zagunis, Clifton for Yelich, Chen, and Ramos, taking on all of Chen's contract. Too little? I think that’s in the ballpark, if they really are that poor/desperate to lower payroll. I like that framework. Ramos was traded to the Mets so we'd probably have to take Zieg...

Little's second is going swimmingly. BB, K, BB, K, 2-un triple, groundout. 2 IP, 1 H, 2 ER, 4 BB, 4 K, 1-1 GO-FO, 50-26 pitches-strikes Had the good fortune to sit about right behind home plate last night in the 2nd row. Much like the final line shows, Little was incredibly inconsistent. His mechan...
