Re: General Cubs Chit-Chat

Will there be a big manager search with many brought in for interviews or do they already know who they want? I'm not sure what I expect the front office to do as far as search process. It's possible the Cubs have the most high profile opening this offseason. Unless the Red Sox situation changes th...

Re: Trade targets 2019

MBDChicago mentioned Rene Rivera as an option. I hadn’t considered that, but I’d be a fan. He’s likely not even a Caratini level of replacement, but I liked what he brought to the table. Doubtful he would require a top 30 prospect even if the Mets know the Cubs have a serious need.

Anyway, I'd take Adbert Alzolay over Tyson Miller all day. I interpreted it as “has performed the best” this season, which I suppose you could make a case since Miller has been really great all season. I’m a fan of Miller, but I’d take Alzolay over him easily. If they actually mean Miller has surpa...

Mayo has us taking Hoese in his newest mock. I don't know if it's a good or bad idea, but I think he's the most interesting guy I've seen us associated with. BA too. It's going to be glorious if that 2nd first rounder in the Mack trade ends up being actually a trade back of 5ish spots. Pace doesn't really think like that. He'll probably try to get into the 1st or something. I think Brian was saying that it would be amazing if the Bears first rounder they gave u...

Back In ‘14 or ‘15 - what was the peak number of Cubs prospects in the top 100? 6 or 7? MLB.com had 6 Cubs in the top 100 (top 72, really) and 4 in the top 50 at the end of '14. 3rd Bryant 5th Russell 36th Almora 48th Soler 53rd Edwards 72nd Schwarber At BA it was still six to start 2015, but even ...

It’s Loxas.... https://twitter.com/realcubsinsider/status/1069981485443284992?s=21 I’ve always been very skeptical of Loxas, but I think this is likely true. I mean it’s almost negligence for a team in contention to not check in with any reliever on the market. Granted I know he just seems to throw...

I think "march" is more like a full on sprint. Who is the phenom we're tanking for in the draft? American Jack Hughes appears to be the consensus top pick. http://www.espn.com/nhl/story/_/id/23864766/nhl-meet-jack-hughes-record-breaking-no-1-ranked-2019-nhl-draft-prospect Although the top...

On the Gray multi inning thing - are they still viewing him as a SP for 2020+? They should! I am not against the idea of regrouping in the pen, that’s a quality way to break in a potential long term SP I think there’s a lot of value in bringing in Jon Gray if you can this offseason. Every team is g...

Man this offseason was just ... it's crazy, out of all the FA signings made by this front office, what percentage of them would they leap at the chance to reverse?
