A HR at all in the DSL and 3 in 44 IP in a rookie league last year isn't outstanding.

Last pitch of the 5th, pitch 60, was 96 for a swinging K

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 7-1-18

Marquez got his longest outing of the season in finishing the fourth but did give up a HR. The HRs are why I'm a little skeptical of his prospects as a potential first division SP prospect.

Eddy Martinez hit a HR. He got hot after the SL AA ASG ~35 PAs.

Marquez said to be in the mid-upper 90's, first out of the second was a pop up with a 97 MPH fastball

He struck out the side in the first.

I'm going to refer to him as hot button pitcher Paul Richan. Try not to suck!

Ademan and Pereda are each 2-2 while Bryan Hudson continues to not get hurt.

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 6-30-18

Short quietly got to .236/.358/.431 after hovering close to .200 a few weeks ago. He still puts lots of balls in the air and plays SS. He must really be believing in himself just in time for summer. I want to believe he can step into the role after a Baez trade.

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 6-27-18

It's nice the Lange, Carrera, and Thomas pitching lineup came up for the second turn in a row. Hopefully this can be a regular thing for 2018, this counts as a riveting day for pitching in the Cubs' minor league system. Lange's holding up and might get 120+ high quality innings in this year, wouldn'...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 6-23-18

Didn't AZPhil have him mid to upper 80's in EXST? Stretching out, not overthrowing, plenty of possible reasons mid 80's was to be expected for him when Phil saw him. But, everyone else was throwing what you'd expect them to. So, it did put me off him somewhat. If he's still throwing mid to upper 80...

https://bitacoradeportiva.com/2016/07/didier-vargas-quinto-panameno-en-unirse-a-los-cubs/ In this interview the Cubs' rep that signed Didier Vargas, Cirilo Cumberbatch, says the Cubs hope he can push 95-96 eventually. Vargas says he's 91-92 with a 12-6 curveball. Seems like there's some upside poten...

Kwang-Min Kwon playing some CF tonight for the Emeralds with a double and a walk in 3 PAs. He's K'd once so far this season. Luis Vazquez seems whelmed by this level offensively. Jose Gutierrez is repeating the AZL and is doing really well early on. Long run he might be a better prospect than Kelli ...

It's funny because it's true. It's hard to imagine a team letting anyone throw 7 in the AZL.

Strong night from Didier Vargas with 8 Ks, no HRs, 5 IP, and just 4 hits allowed. I thought he was done after 3 but am glad he was allowed to get more innings. Ovalles picked up another hit and played more CF in the DSL. Christopher Morel's put together back to back games offensively. Hopefully thes...

He uses his lower body really well for a HSer, has a quick arm, gets on top of the ball, long levers...not sure there's a starter th...
