Re: General [expletive] -Chat Thread

What percent of people do you think have pooped in a porta potty at some point in their life? Half? To kick off the informal polling, I have. I have, more than once unfortunately. Most recently this spring. Had my gall bladder out in March and since certain foods just hit me. I ate lunch at my desk...

Re: 2016 Trade Deadline

He's a 3ish WAR starter. By backing up, id suspect his year end ERA to be more inline with his FIP than it currently is .Hes not becoming arb eligible, hes under contract. Which is fine. I'm not against adding that caliber of arm. But considering their asking price is likely higher than what you're...

Re: 2016 Trade Deadline

Hill is definitely a guy to look into. [expletive] Teheran. One, he'll come back to earth. Two, they want more than what they got for Miller and truly have no reason to deal him, if they don't get it. And I liked the idea of getting him last deadline. Way too high of a price now though. Back to Ear...

Re: 2016 Trade Deadline

Having both players is a great situation that makes 29 other teams envious. So... how about a lefty reliever? I still wouldn't be overly surprised if all this LH reliever hype goes by the wayside and they aim higher - namely a SP. It won't go by at all. The Miller/Chapman/Doolittle extraordinary LH...

Re: 2016 Trade Deadline

Jesse Rogers ESPN Staff Writer I'm assuming this was said by Theo Epstein for the media on the other side of town: "I'm looking forward to seeing Kyle Schwarber playing for the Cubs on opening day next year." Was smiling as he said it. God, me too. 2B Zobrist LF Schwarber RF Bryant 1B Riz...

Re: Justin Grimm and the bullpen.

Don't have a ton of hope for Grimm to regain enough of his form to be the 7th inning guy the Cubs need. I think the Cubs should trade for a cheap reliever sooner rather than later (I liked the suggestion of Cingrani someone mentioned) and then try to find a late inning guy between that cheap option,...

Re: 2016 Trade Deadline

I like Doolittle also, but I don't like arguably the Cubs top prospect for him. I don't like big time prospects for relievers at all unless the reliever is a legit shutdown guy. Doolittle would be really nice, but I don't get the "game over" feeling wtih Doolittle/Strop/Rondon as I do with...

Re: 2016 Trade Deadline

Soler is extremely easy to trade at this point from our end. We don't need him. The only question is whether he's still got enough value to warrant moving him currently. Don't need him? There's more baseball being played outside of 2016. The Cubs are facing 2017 without Fowler, with uncertainty aro...

Re: 2016 Trade Deadline

That list is not very inspiring. The bad news is that those guys won't get you much help. Of course, the good news is, this team doesn't need much help. I wonder how much the Cubs will "go for it". On one hand, this team is in the playoffs as is. They can use the minor leaguers to get the ...

Re: New Benny, and Other changes (Bulls offseason)

Basically all you can do is build a solid team. In the East it takes just one upset and you could be in the finals. Good, solid teams have won championships before they don't typically win many and it is still rare. This is the most difficult sport to build a champion and my enjoyment of it doesn't...

for a 14th pick, i like valentine from what i've seen. but i really don't know much about college players. like his size and seems to be a good 3 point shooter. Kind of a do everything guy. Can shoot, pass, defend some. Doesn't have the elite athleticism (bad knees) to create his own shot whenever ...

Re: remember when we thought we were special thread

If you take out the 25-6 start and the 10-1 stretch, the Cubs are 12-17. If you take out all their wins, they are 0-24.

Hey, I actually really wanted Valentine in the hopes that he's Draymond Green II. He's not, but he's a solid guy who's likely able to help right away.

Re: New Benny, and Other changes (Bulls offseason)

This actually looks like a pretty decent trade for the Bulls. Lopez is probably a similar player to current Noah, but healthier and not as good of a passer. Grant is a nice get. He has good size on the wing (6'5"), and when his minutes doubled in the last month of the season, he put 14.5 PPG, a...

So 96 Bulls best team ever still? I can't answer that because I'm biased but I imagine it will go back to arguing between the 96 Bulls, 86 Celtics and this Warriors team. The Warriors excuse is that their MVP was never the same after being hurt but I think this team just didn't look the same as the...

Proud Father's Day moment yesterday. I was watching ESPN before the game last night and they had players talking about their fathers. They show Kris Bryant talking about his dad, and my son goes "Hey, is that Kris Bryant?" Mind you, my son is 6. He does some beginning reading, but very goo...

What if Dexter gets DL'd -- who comes up? Zagunis? I'm assuming they'd go with another pitcher (Edwards, Patton) and shorten the bench until LaStella or Soler comes back. Still have 4 OFs, plus Bryant. Still have 5 IFs, plus Coghlan. Only other hitters on the 40-man who are not injured are Vogelbac...
