Re: Addison Russell

Russell has a .812 OPS in the second half which is the highest on the infield outside of Bryzzo and when he starts he has a .798 OPS which is 7 points lower than Schwarber. We got worse by dumping him for a 3rd catcher who can't ht.

Re: Trade targets 2019

They better get it together or we might have to flip to what prospects we want from other teams and sell the few guys in our BP who get outs. It's not the least appetizing idea ever. This group is so dysfunctional a deadline deal or two isn't gonna fix it. You have to figure a teardown is coming at...

Re: Minor League Musings

I would like to see Jake Reindl get sent to AFL and try to make up for lost time after making his Cubs debut the 13th after being in the 2018 draft.

Deeg wrote:Dyson is basically a LF hitting Almora (actually slightly worse statistically). A singularly unappealing option.

Giving up assets for him would be silly in my book. His lifetime OPS is just slightly better than Almora this year at his worst.

Re: Trade targets 2019

Yeah they're not going to bring in Castellanos to be the weak side of a corner outfield platoon. I would guess though that Schwarber's going to lose some playing time rather than Schwarber-Heyward-Castellanos becoming the everyday alignment against righties. I'm also interested about the rumor that...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 7-18-19

Would love to see Roederer to get hot and salvage some OPS and build towards next year when he could be easy to bottom out dealing with the grind of a full season of pro ball for the first time.

Re: Trade targets 2019

Schwarber isn't perfect but it would be counter productive to trade him for this year and the next when he will still make a reasonable amount.

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 7-17-19

Sucks Alzolay got hurt again. I don't have faith he would ever stay healthy enough to count on as a SP, but I felt that before today and would been fine with sending him to KC as part of a package to get Merrifield. Hope I'm wrong since his trade value has tanked with this latest injury and poor res...

Re: Minor League Musings

Happ needs to be starting for the Chicago Cubs tomorrow. He's hot and there is just a couple weeks until the deadline, It would be lame to trade him without another shot. Wish he was there tonight since he has great numbers off Castillo

Feel like we are going to see every single player on the MLB roster and all the top prospects spend some time on the IL this year.

Re: Martin Maldonado to Cubs

Theo is losing his fastball. Hope this turns out to be more or becomes better than it looks on paper. I fully expected use to sell Monty for some IFA pool money or to fill out of bigger trade not to add a defensive catcher who can't hit. He's been terrible but the possibility of being a cost control...

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 7-13-19

Sucks that all 3 of 17 year old Richard Gallardo ER came off a 3-run HR with 2 outs to 35 year old MLB vet Nick Hundley. The good news is that Jake Reindl finally made his professional debut. He got rehabbing Top-100 prospect Sean Murphy to ground out a pair of K's but one reached on the ball gettin...

Re: 2019 Actual MLB Draft Day(s) Thread

Wasn't a fan of the draft to begin with so wasting the 10th round pick makes it even more frustrating, hope they at least get Chambers signed. The Reds got the 170th rated guy in the 12th round a SS from PR for 249K or 124 towards the pool. That would been our 4th ranked guy if we could have just si...

Re: 2019 Actual MLB Draft Day(s) Thread

Its going to suck if they can't get Hendrie signed when they could have just taken a NCAA SR pitcher for a couple grand and had 140K to spend elsewhere, rather than waste a 10th round pick on nothing and missout of the 142,200 slot and the 5% they could go over on that.

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 7-9-19

Leading off and playing 2nd and CF feels like Theo may be changing his mind on Nico's timeline and could look to him at being Whit Merrifield in 2019 rather than giving him plus others up to get the older version.

Re: Trade targets 2019

If Theo is going to trade for David Peralta who can't hit LHP either then Schwarber better be going to KC for Whit Merrifield who fits a need and can hit LHP. With Almora forgetting how to hit LHP none of our top 3 OF can hit LHP this year and adding another makes zero sense.

MLB.com's draft tracker has Deppermann signing for 50K or 144K and change less than slot.

Mayo showing me some love on his last mock.... https://www.mlb.com/news/mlb-mock-draft-on-june-2 27. Cubs: Kameron Misner, OF, Missouri So many tools, so little performance, especially in SEC play this year. It’s possible Misner could slide out of the first round as a result, but there’s some seriou...

Most recent BA draft: 27 Will Wilson NC State SS Notes: We keep hearing a college bat to the Cubs, so Wilson, Missouri’s Kameron Misner and UCLA’s Michael Toglia—who is gaining a lot of draft helium late—could fit here. Good to head they are expected to take a college bat. Its no secret I want Misn...

Re: 2019 Draft Thread

That PG mock had Misner slipping to 36th. Clearly I'm biased being a believer in his tools, but if he's there I have a hard time seeing the Cubs passing on him with the level of the offense in the system. All I can see is raw Cody Bellinger when I watch him play, I hate to get my hopes up think ther...

Wish Robel Garcia was a year or so younger to see what type of grades they would have given him on his comeback in affiliated ball.
