Re: Funniest heckles you have heard at baseball games
I sat in the bleachers back when Neon Deion was playing OF with the Reds and soon after being "born again". One guy next to me starts calling out to him the first 3 innings, mostly "Papa, why don't you ever call me?" type stuff. After booting a lazy fly all, Deion turns around to...

I do think he has some ulterior motive that is not simply trying to be POTUS. Like maybe he had some scores to settle with Republicans.

A mascot better than Herrera, a good defensive backup catcher with some pop, and all the pitchers love him behind the plate? Sure beats Paul Bako.

Re: The Travel Thread
There are lots of dumb touristy things to avoid (taking a kid down Bourbon Street at night?!? Really?) and good stuff to do. WHYWHYWHYWHYWHY? why do people do this? I wouldn't take my kids down bourbon at daytime, let alone at night. It happens all the time, and no, no time is good for a child to s...

Re: The Travel Thread
I'm kicking around the idea of a mid-July week out with my kids (16 and 14), and I want to do an enjoy the experience rather than just the destination road trip kind of thing. I'd like to keep it to within about 1000 miles one way. I want to go somewhere none of us have been so I'm considering plac...

The thing I find so odd about the comment is A) the hokey language (another bite at the apple), but more so B) the timing. The movie has been out for several months. The movie has been at the forefront of entertainment discussion for a good year, and Mark Hamill has been right there with it all alo...

Re: Baez impresses Baez
The walkoff is obviously the play of the game, but him throwing out Zimmerman on that soft grounder with the bases loaded was right behind it. He is such a valuable player right now, we wouldn't be where we are with Kawasaki up here, thats for sure. There were several times I was wishing he was man...

Re: 2016 Trade Deadline
Why do the Cubs need another starter? Artieta/Lester/Lackey will definitely be starting postseason games, and if they do need a 4th guy and Hammel looks shaky again after July, I trust Hendricks or even a bullpen game headed by Warren just fine. A lefty out of the pen might be all this team needs.

Re: Tommy LaStella: Small, white, AND good at baseball?
Maybe the real curse to break was getting an annoying, gritty, tryhard white player to succeed like the Cardinals churn out, and that was the final piece to the puzzle. All we needed was to get an Eckstein, a David Freese, a Skip Schumacher, a Nick Punto, an Aaron Miles (but not when he was on our ...

Don't laugh, but Tulane is a rumor. I guess if you're talking about tv markets. Also hearing Cincinnati.

Except that watching the BFIB suffer through their decline into suck is great entertainment. Sort of like laughing at Shia LaBeouf stories.

Part of why Lou Holtz was fired from Arkansas was campaigning for Jesse Helms. Let me know when Nolan Richardson endorses Trump.

Re: The Cardinals
They are now at #2 in the 5 stages of grief.
1. Denial check
2. Anger
3. Bargaining "Maybe That next new batch of prospects will be here soon."
4. Depression "Jesus, the Cubs are 15 games up."
5. Acceptance "We suck."

I like Gold Gloves and I cannot lie: the Jason Heyward thread
His defense has been awesome, but he's completely lost at the plate. Reminds me of Castro pressing last year and constantly rolling over easy grounders to the infield. Also feels like he's striking out a ton without the power to offset it I was seriously wondering if someone was going to start a th...

Dak Prescott to Cowboys. Wonder if they'll actually have him play QB or switch to TE as some suspect Would be an all-time stupid move to have no backup QB and to draft one you intend to play at TE. So, probably. While at Miss State, Dak was groomed to be like Tim Tebow. I suspect his NFL career wil...

Re: The Cardinals
Every time I watch the Cardinals, they seem extremely unimpressive. Their defense looks really, really bad. I know they've had some good games and they were (are?) leading the league in runs scored. Maybe I'm bad luck for them and I should watch all of their games. It's not just you. They kick the ...
