Re: The Politics Thread

Question, If Obama or Clinton were still allowed to run, do you think they would have won comfortably? Clinton actually never ran a really broad coalition, likely benefiting from 2 strong 3rd party candidates. Obama cleared a true majority vote and a strong built-in EC advantage twice. Has the elec...

Re: The Politics Thread

Speaking of young, NC elected a 25 year old Abercrombie model in a wheelchair to the House. Youngest House member since 1792. Another bright future republican leader! https://twitter.com/cawthornfornc/status/1323813315169165313?s=21 Ya I just looked at his wiki page...a truly inspiring individual.

Re: The Politics Thread

The only that has surprised me is the ability of Trump to pull in massive numbers. As far as direction, this country was founded by old white male racists with odd hair and is still run by the same beliefs with old white males with odd hair. As bad as Trump is, the left is going to get 70+ mil vote...

Re: The Politics Thread

Georgia still looking good - 64% according to the New York Times infamous needle. Still hopeful for PA, based on the fact that mail in votes skew heavily democratic and those are the votes that haven't been counted. Down 600,000 is pretty scary though, but it is exactly what smart people said would...

Re: The Politics Thread

So this was my great grandmothers 21st POTUS election to vote in. 1940-2020. The quality of the candidates on the ballot has changed quite a bit over that time. To go from FDR on the ballot to this orange muppet. What a decline.

Re: The Politics Thread

Trump is so lucky. He went against the most unlikeable candidate in history in 2016 and then against an uninspiring almost 80 year old career bureaucrat. This really lets too many people off the hook who genuinely and truly want to vote for someone like Trump. Well those people should all eat a bul...

Re: CDC Info on COVID-19 (Corona virus)

My wife and daughters had exposure to cousin on a Saturday who got a fever on Sunday and tested positive Monday. Daughters got tested this past Saturday. T...

The Mike Leach in the SEC experiment isn't off to flying colors. State is averaging 15 points a game this year...and that includes the 44 point game against LSU; if you take away that game they are averaging 7.5.

They've scored ONE touchdown their last 3 games.

Re: CDC Info on COVID-19 (Corona virus)

Hospitalizations are going up rapidly. Deaths haven't yet. We have gotten a lot better at treating it, so the next 20% of the population to get infected won't see nearly as many deaths as the first 20%. But it's a lot more than it would have been if we had effectively contained the epidemic. Has an...

100k cases today and still growing. A couple of months ago, the CDC was estimating real infections was 10x detected infections. Even if we've gotten that down to 6x, that would mean that 0.2% of the US is being infected every day. I honestly think the US is going to reach some sort of endemic equil...
