Re: It's Willson's turn

https://twitter.com/sahadevsharma/status/745107949916323840 What a savage. I love this guy. I hope he ends up driving the meatballs insane. Contreras is going to bring out the worst in me, I assure you. Clearly you are confused by what a meatball is. It's a circular, meat based food. But that's not...

Re: 2016 Trade Deadline

Miller, Chapman, Doolittle, Abad, McGhee, Smith......Are there any other lefties out there that are decent and seem likely to be moved?

Re: 2016 Trade Deadline

As much as I would love to see Miller in a Cubs uniform, I don't know if it's worth even giving up Torres or Happ for him. Yes, those guys are theoretically blocked in our organization for a little while (and they aren't close to the majors), but those are bullets that could be spent on something e...

Re: 2016 Trade Deadline

I think we'll add a depth starter at some point before the deadline. Some sort of buy low type, like a Kyle Gibson or something. But I think there's enough lefty relievers out there that we'll get a good one. My honest guess is Miller stays put and we get Doolittle, with Soler as the lead piece.

Re: 2016 Trade Deadline

I hate getting into mock trades or assessing trade value because I think generally the media and fans don't do very well at it. (I know I don't.) But I do wonder...is there a Cubs tax on trades this year? Will the Cubs have to pay a little more than other teams would because other teams know the Cu...

Oh, I'd move Soler in a Miller deal for sure. I'd move him for Chapman, IF Chapman wasn't a raging piece of horsefeathers.

Re: Willson Contreras Called Up

If he gets 200-250 AB's next year, puts up a solid slash line and looks relatively decent behind the plate, he'll get a starting gig the next year anyway.

Re: It's Willson's turn

I really think we'll see Contreras get 1 of every 5 games to start. He'll get innings in other games and likely hit in all of them. But I figure he's here to learn framing, game calling, and get to know the pitchers. I think this is a "reward" type situation where his bat was SO GOOD, we'l...

Re: Willson Contreras Called Up

I doubt he's here for good honestly. My guess is they do want him working directly with Montero and Ross on framing and also getting to know the pitching staff. He'll get a start or so a week, likely pinch hit and stay in the games late. He's killing it SO HARD in AAA though, that I can see them say...

Re: It's Willson's turn

Let me get this straight C - Contreras 1B - Rizzo 2B - Baez SS - Russell 3B - Bryant LF - Soler (Schwarbs next year) CF - Almora RF - Heyward Rizzo is the oldest player on that list (by 1 day over JHey) at 26. hahahahahahahahaha (In Sandler voice) And now for the complete beat down of major league ...
