Re: General Cubs Chit-Chat

That's a lot of reading between the lines for an early power ranking that, again, has them #8 in all of baseball and #4 in the NL. Personally, I don't think ranking the Cubs behind several teams who are almost all in better shape with their pitching right now is some kind of terrible slight. Defini...

Re: Trading Heyward

The Giants have a desperate need for outfield help. How insane is something like Heyward, Happ, Zagunis, Grimm and $$$ for Melancon and Shark? Or what about seeing how much the Red Sox don't want to pay Porcello or Price anymore? Not interested in using Happ to get rid of Heyward's contract. Unless...

Re: Sports Media Thread

I think they'll continue to distance themselves from the rest of the company after this debacle. Too horsefeathering late. There's so many awful, sexist, misogynistic reasons that they should have distanced themselves from Barstool before this...but now they'll distance themselves because Portnoy s...

https://twitter.com/sung_minkim/status/922551573850591235 Big Cat tweeted at Mooch today and he’s coming on the podcast to discuss getting fired in 11 days. PFT and Big Cat should leave Barstool. They don’t belong there anymore. I was never really exposed to any of the Barstool horsefeathers before...

Re: Sports Media Thread

they actively antagonized the barstool hating portion of their audience, then pissed off the barstool adoring portion. This is a huge mess-up. They couldn't have possibly handled this any worse. They shouldn't have agreed to include Barstool in the title of the show. The PMT guys are much bigger th...

Re: John Mallee

Zobrist is old, so getting injured and falling off a cliff wasn't a huge surprise. I expected more from Russell, but the divorce/injury certainly affected him, and I was encouraged by the fact that he probably had the best AB's on the team during the playoffs. Schwarber was playing his first full y...

Re: Bears game 6: Joey Elite vs. Elite Rushing game 10/15 at Noon on Fox

I would go WR in first this year. I love Ridley, think he'll be an ODB-like player. Then sign Landry. Then you have an instantly-deep receiving corp to play with Trubisky. Meredith and White are simply depth. As desperate as they are, they still can't afford to lock in at WR. I think they can, assu...

Re: Bears Game 5 vs Vikings, MNF

I think it's a bit early to think Shaheen is garbage. Fox has basically had to go rookie at secondary RB and at QB now, and he's got two vets ahead of Shaheen on the depth chart, so this is a place he probably feels justified playing the vet over a rookie. If Shaheen develops as the season progress...

Re: Baez impresses Baez

Why would we trade our 23 year old SS who already has 8 career WAR for a SS prospect? Prospect? He's put up 5.1 WAR in less than a full season. The real question is why would the Nats do that deal? no one is talking about trading Russell for actual Joe Ross and actual Trea Turner. R. Show's idea is...

If he wasn't playing so poorly, this would be an issue. He has nobody to blame but himself.

Re: Bears/NFL training camp opens

A good running game plus a strong defense seems like an ideal situation for a rookie QB to gain experience. Glennon needs to be on a short leash.

I was hoping Stephen Ridings would become something after reading Verducci's book. So far, it's not looking so good.

To me, he's more important to this team in the playoffs than the regular season. If sitting him until mid-September will get him ready for the playoffs, they should do it.

Re: The Starting Pitching Trade Candidates

Correct me if I'm wrong, but picking up Verlander would effectively mean we're out on Otani before it even happens right? Lester still has 4 years, Quintana 3, Verlander 3 and Hendricks only hitting arb 1. I guess I could see them leaving Montgomery in the bullpen, but to spend another 200M on top ...

Re: Cubs trade Eloy, Cease, others for Quintana

I'm so sick of hearing guys like Kaplan talk about how Quintana isn't an ace and the Cubs paid the price of a true number one starter for someone that isn't an ace. 1. What is these guy's definition of an ace? 2. How many guys fit their definition? 3. Would Eloy and Cease be enough to get one? (Ans...

Re: Bulls offseason

Is there a single person in the media even kind of defending it? Legitimately asking. I'd love to read it. No. One SI.com article said the only defensible thing about the deal is how bad it makes the team now, and I think that's the closest thing to a defense I've seen. And the hell of it is, it pr...
