Re: Cubs sign Carlos Asuaje

Good to know Theo can still sign his top off-season Target when he wants to.

Re: Chicago Bears offseason

Question regarding Mitch' contract, as I understand it the Bears have until May to pick up his 2021 option. However, he's still under contract for 2020 regardless of the Bears exercising the option. Why would the Bears pick up his 2021 option? Can't they still cut him after next season with no repe...

Re: 2019-20 Offseason Rumors/General Chit-Chat

Yeah I don’t see how they can do a Javy extension if they are going under the LT. Or see how that’s the smart thing to do at least, it keeps them from adding anything pretty much. I think ultimately we see both KB and Q dealt, which would put the team ~$27M under the tax. That's enough room to exte...

Re: 2019-20 Offseason Rumors/General Chit-Chat

If he literally brought nothing else of value to the table to being a good baseball player I doubt it. Especially in a environment everyone with a pulse and and couple hundred PAs in the 20s to 30+ HRs. He’s kinda capped as a 2-3 win player with his profile , maybe he has a peak 4+ head as an outli...

Re: Chicago Bears offseason

overall, the benefit of placing 3rd is real. much easier schedule then this year This plus Mack will not be invisible, his ineffectiveness this season is combination of many things - him sucking, Hicks injury, etc. - but, it's not because of injury. He'll come back in a big way next year. How much ...

Re: TV thread

same. maybe i'll try to soldier through again sometime during the winter break. To those who know....can you skip the slog and start with season two? You could, but it's worth watching, IMO, for the whole thing. It makes a lot of the stuff that comes afterwards mean a lot more (see also P&R). T...

Re: TV thread

That was how I went in, too. So many people raving how good it was, but almost all of them also saying, "just make it through season 1." I gave it a shot because I'd heard it was good on here, but hadn't focused on the "slog through season 1" part. I gave up about four episodes ...

Re: TV thread

It almost takes an entire season to get going, IMO. Season 1 is worth watching for everything that comes later, but I found almost all of it super unremarkable until season 2, and then it's off to the horsefeathering races. Thanks...I’ll grind through it then. Heard too many good things to not give...

Re: Cubs Select Trevor Megill in Rule 5/V/Five Draft

Lost Machin and Rucker too so far. I figured Machin was as good as gone. I had hopes for Rucker and bummed he's gone but he got taken by the Orioles so I'm sure we'll see him make his MLB debut in 2020. Yeah, I felt like Rucker earned more of a chance than he really got. I hope he does well for the...

Re: Potential Kris Bryant trade thread

Yes, please. The idea that a franchise almost literally swimming in its own cash would need to trade an extremely productive recent MVP to improve its team (to say nothing of the idea that improving its team would be virtually impossible under that scenario), rather than just going and signing a fe...

Re: Politics & Current Events

I really need to get off twitter. Just crazy to see all the gop horsefeathers and their followers constantly spinning everything about Trump. The recent FBI/FISA being the latest example. Hannity going all Hannity and saying "everything I've said over the past 3 years has been right" and ...

They are, OTOH, trying really really really super hard to be with everything done since the WS win

Trading Bryant for a mediocre return would free up a lot of time for me next summer, though.

You know, on the bright side.

I don't remember who here voiced the "he's just being a centrist in the Dem primary. He'll move to the left in the general" idea, but when I read it, I snorted noodles out of my nose, had to go to the restroom to recover, and forgot to respond with a snarky gif. I'm tickled by the idea th...

Health care and defense spending. And Pete's still in the BS candidate phase where he should be blowing smoke up everyone's ass, and he doesn't even bother with that sometimes. Isn't Pete backing universal health care, though where people can keep their provider if they choose? How is that right of...

NOBODY HERE IS SAYING BUTTIGIEG IS A 2019 REPUBLICAN. By almost any reasonable metric you can find his ideologies and rhetoric plant him ever so slightly Left of Center. The Overton Window has swung so far to the horsefeathering Right that a guy with an abysmal political track record who would have...

Sofa, total [expletive], but compliments on the hyperbole. I’m not defending Mayor Pete outside of the fact I’d happily vote for him in the general. If anything, I’ve been consistent in harping on that purity tests are the only thing that’s going to keep any Dem candidate from winning. I want the e...

Re: Beer Thread 2.0

My wife just came back from a NovemBeard charity event where she bought $40 of raffle tickets and won a $500 box of stuff. It was mostly shaving-related items (a million of them), but there was also beer: 1 bottle of Bourbon County 2018 1 bottle of Bourbon County 2019 1 bottle of Rhinegeist Limited...
