Re: Orioles are shopping Machado (and he wants to go back to SS)

Of course that's assuming Harper accepts our offer over the 4 or 5 other $400 million offers on the table.

Re: Winter Meetings 2017 thread

If we are going to trade a MIF I sincerely hope its the one who was accused of beating up the mother of one of his dozen children, but thats just me. edit: Id actually like to trade him regardless. Sell him while value is still somewhat high, cause im not so sure he's ever going to come close to th...

That's a big "IF". Of course "if he's hitting like he can", he would look good in the middle of the lineup too.

Re: The Mock Off Season Thread

A lot of rumors about teams checking in on Fullmer. He certainly would look nice in our rotation. All of our rumors center around Schwarber, Happ, Baez, Caratini, etc. I would imagine a package centered around 1-2 of those and a few more prospects should whet their appetite. No thank you Not sure t...

Re: The Mock Off Season Thread

My ideal scenario: Tampa buys into Happ being at least a league average defender at second base. In which case, he's a 30+ hr guy with plate discipline, speed and solid defense. That's the beginning of a good package for Archer. We round that out with Caratini, De La Cruz and Albertos. Our rotation...

Re: Cubs sign Tyler Chatwood for 3/$38M

I'll be shocked if we don't add a starter that's thought of more highly than Chatwood. Let's hope so. Chatwood is a decent #5. I wish there was a recent example of us getting a pitcher who was reputed to have awesome stuff that he just hadn't harnessed yet. Maybe someone that was really good at gen...

Re: The Cubs are a Finalist for Shohei Ohtani

If I were in his shoes knowing the long term endorsement and salary potential, and putting a premium on having a fun career (personal success + team success) I’d have to think the order would be: Cubs Dodgers Mariners Giants Angels Rangers Padres The only reason I put the Cubs ahead of the Dodgers ...

Re: Where will Giancar-go?

If/when the Giants get him I really don't get it, they are more than a Stanton away and if they really are cool with committing to $300 million this offseason idk why they wouldn't just go sign like 1 of Fraizer/Moustakas/Walker for 3B, 2 or 3 of Cain, Gomez, Cargo, Bautista, Jay, Kendrick for the ...

That said, you're getting Abreu and much more, for JBJ. Not the other way around.

Yeah, I think Almora is going to be our CF for quite a few years.

I saw an article a few days ago about the BOSOX showing interest in Abreu from the ChiSOX in exchange for JBJr. Said the BOSOX were looking for more power. What are y'alls thoughts on swapping Schwarber for JBJr? I've always been a huge JBJr. fan after watching him play his college ball here, and I...

Re: ITT: Raisin & Tom/King Kong Obsess Over Shohei Ohtani

One of the leading candidates for the Yankee job is Hensley Meulens: "Meulens played with the Yankees from 1989-93 and has served as the Giants’ hitting coach dating back to 2010 (including in each of San Francisco’s three World Series-winning seasons). The Curacao native speaks five languages,...

Re: ITT: Raisin & Tom/King Kong Obsess Over Shohei Ohtani

So basically we want Theo to sexily lie to his face, because in no sane world does anyone want a prized pitcher getting a ton of extra unnecessary AB's, right? That's a tough moral decision: Theo lying to him and we sign him or Theo telling the truth and we have no chance of signing him. I go with ...

Re: The Mock Off Season Thread

Just a hypothetical, what would Hendricks bring back in the current market? Like could he get another teams Russell or Benintendi? I don't think so simply because he's not looked at as an ace. He's a great #3 and pitches like a #1 or #2 much of the time, but still doesn't have that "name"...

Re: The Mock Off Season Thread

I think there's a hypothetical involving say David Price, Chris Davis, and Jason Heyward (along with money flowing largely from Red Sox to Cubs but haven't really looked at it) in a three way trade that makes enough sense for all parties, assuming Heyward agreed to a deal (Orioles improve OF defens...

Re: Cubs Offseason Rumors

Here's my thought on Happ. What are the odds that he's much better than he was last year? He could improve his K rate a bit and hit for a higher average, but I think the 2-3 win production you get from him is as good as it gets. That's plenty valuable and shouldn't be given away, but this offense i...

Re: Cubs Offseason Rumors

Happ is weird. More than any of our players except maybe Javy, it’s a case of “beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” Pro’s - He played nearly a full year in the majors at 22, and did quite well for himself - He was actually well above average in sprint speed , which probably means that in the medi...
