Re: The Yu Darvish Thread

Player may sign soon. But they might not. Team A is the front-runner but other teams involved.

I didnt read the post, I just saw "Heyman special" and took a guess.

Re: The Yu Darvish Thread

The longer this drags out only makes the situation worse for Arietta, Cobb and Lynn, right? I mean, as we get closer to Spring Training and teams are kinda set on their payrolls, I just can’t see anyone signing for the remaining three at anything less than a deep discount. At this point I would thi...

Re: General Baseball Chit-Chat Thread

The Rays just signed a guy named Forrest Snow, which sounds totally made up. I looked him up, and well, he enjoys Seattle. Born: December 30, 1988 (Age: 29-027d) in Seattle, WA Draft: Drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the 44th round of the 2007 MLB June Amateur Draft from Lakeside School (Seattle, ...

Re: Cubs Offseason Rumors

So who wanted a Mike Freeman return? The Cubs announced 19 non-roster invitations to Major League Spring Training today (Twitter link), with infielder/outfielder Mike Freeman and left-hander Kyle Ryan standing out as new additions on minor league contracts. Freeman is repped by BASH Baseball, and Ry...

Re: Offseason Transactions

Giants signed Austin Jackson to a 2-year deal. Reports are they want him as their 4th outfielder and are still looking.

Things are "heating up" (relatively).

It really could be nothing but the Giminez signing reminds me of Ross when we were trying to land Lester.

Re: Addison Russell

Am I the only one who never knew this? The full name on Russell's birth certificate is Geoffreye O'Neal Addison Robert Watts Jr III. Addison's unusual first name comes from a character played by actor Bruce Willis on the 1980s hit television show Moonlighting. His mother, Milany Ocampo-Russell, was ...

Re: Christian Yelich

I'd too assume Happ and Almora would be in that trade. Albertos is a really nice prospect but he's so far away from the majors. If it's those three plus another prospect (de la Cruz, Hatch, Zagunis, Wilson, etc), I don't think that's unreasonable and I'd take that deal.

Damn, really wanted him back. He's got a better chance for playing time there, though. All that's in front of him is Martin Maldonado.

Re: Starting Pitching candidates

There are absolutely no rumors involving Julio Teheran so I don't have any idea of Atlanta's willingness to move him (although no rumors have never been an indication one way or another for this stealthy front office), but I'd love to get him. He's coming off a down year (which isn't necessarily a ...

Re: Offseason Transactions

I remember the vitriol here when we signed Howry and Eyre and clearly things have changed. They were mostly good relievers during their time here and I recall thinking it was a waste to spend money on middle relievers. Now the "market efficiency" is super pens.

Re: Starting Pitching candidates

The market has been so slow to develop that I could see why Cobb would decline that and hope someone offers more money and/or years. That said, I would still like him if he's willing to come down off his asking price. I don't know who said it here but I am expecting there to be a few random days in ...

Re: Offseason Transactions

The market for Eric Hosmer appears to be heating up, according to a report from Bob Nightengale of USA Today. He cites sources “close to Hosmer” that say the first baseman has received nine-figure offers from both the Padres and the Royals. San Diego, per the report, has dangled a seven-year deal a...

Re: Cubs Offseason Rumors

Honestly I want to hold onto Vic. I mean if he is a piece in that deal for the CCSP we covet, then fine. I won't shed a tear. But I think there is a really solid ML hitter there who will make like 2 mil over the next 4 seasons. If Willy were to miss time, I'd rather see what Vic can bring over a bu...
