Re: 2016 Trade Deadline

I've been arguing with some people on Twitter who are trying to tell me that Jay Bruce is a gold glove caliber RF. Well, that's your first mistake... Depends on your point of view. Arguing on twitter can be just what my day calls for from time to time. It's more agonizing than amusing, but there ar...

Meh. He has been a decent reliever for a few years but I doubt he's better than anything on the current roster.

Hopefully, that's not the headliner either. I hope Billy got one of DeLeon, Bellinger, or Verdugo in this....

No way that's all it took. I'd be disappointed if he's the headliner in that deal and we didn't match it.

Rich Hill/Josh Reddick maybe, if the rumors are accurate.

Rosenthal just tweeted they're gunning for Archer.

Well yeah we gave up a lot but this is also a lot for the Indians to give up. Basically emptied their system between this and the Lucroy trade. And word is the Yankees liked Indians prospects more in a Miller trade. They really wanted Frazier.

Re: Minor League Discussion & Boxes, 7-29-16

In less sexy news, enigma wrapped in a riddle who's often confused with a small-breed show dog, Bijan Rademacher is helping his case as a trade throw in, or at least a Rule 5 pick. He's a guy who always seems to produce but never gets any love in the prospect rankings. I'm sure he'd never be more t...

Re: 2016 Trade Deadline

Apparently the Rangers are deep in talks to get Vince Velazquez from the Phillies. They lost out on Cashner so they're gonna empty the farm now. I don't think its possible to lose out by not acquiring Cashner. I would agree, especially considering what the Marlins gave up. But a young cost-controll...

Anyone know why Matusz was scratched from his start tonight in Iowa? Saw a reporter tweet it wasn't injury related and then nothing since.

Also, a blast from the past, Brett pointed out today that Jesus Castillo was one of four Eugene All Stars. He has a 10.31 K/9 and 2.43 ERA. Erick Leal is also pitching pretty well in Myrtle Beach. Can't believe we got both for short fast white man Tony Campana. Odds on either getting a promotion so...

Re: 2016 Trade Deadline

What a package for the Padres. Geez. Cashner, Rea for 2 top prospects, a buy-low starter and an elite reliever who will be back from TJ surgery next season. I'm sure this makes the Phillies happy about a Hellickson trade and really sets the market for starters now.

Re: Cubs add Chapman for Torres, et al. imb wishes we paid more

You know what absolutely sucks? We have an amazing bullpen with guys that can throw 97-105 and I have totally mixed feelings about it. Ugggh Yeah, I've spent the better part of the past 2 days rationalizing this move to myself and feel kinda sick that I'm doing that. This guy is scum vs. god I want...
