Re: Josh Donaldson to the Twins

The pitching is still a mess and giant question mark, this is a nice going for it move but they half assed the pitching in going for it. Their pen doesn't have an elite option but should be good enough. The rotation is where they really dropped the ball. It might be fine, but they'll almost certain...

Good for the Twinkies. I am glad to see them still going for it. They should be fun again. I wish we were fun again... Re: 2019-20 Offseason Rumors/General Chit-Chat

Wow, look how normal teams deal with their horsefeathers head players The Phillies announced Tuesday that center fielder Odubel Herrera has been designated for assignment. His 40-man roster spot will go to Nick Martini, whom the Phillies have claimed off waivers from the Reds. I know it took them li...

Re: Tony Kemp traded to Oakland

FWIW the prospect we got back was ranked as a top 30 prospect in the A's system and seems to have a good approach at the plate/good defense at first.

Re: Tony Kemp traded to Oakland

I know this doesn't move the needle at all and Kemp hit pretty poorly with us after the trade, but he has great defensive versatility and seems like a really likeable guy. I'd have rather just cut Descalso (who still somehow has a roster spot). You could argue maybe this paves the way for a signing ...

3:07pm: The Cubs will pay Javier Baez an even $10MM, per Jeff Passan of ESPN.com (via Twitter). That’s $700K north of his projected earning point. 3:00pm: Several other key Cubs players also have deals, per ESPNChicago.com’s Jesse Rogers (Twitter links). Catcher Willson Contreras receives a $4.5MM ...

Womp womp. Best of luck dude Diamondbacks signed RHP Trevor Clifton to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training. Clifton had spent his entire professional career in the Cubs' organization after being selected in the 12th round of the 2013 draft. He reached Triple-A last year and...

I'm irrationally pissed off a solid prospect like Liberatore is going to the Cardinals of all teams. I know he's still a bit away but he seems like someone who is gonna make it for them and give us fits for years.

Re: 2019-20 Offseason Rumors/General Chit-Chat

An old friend: The Angels signed former Cubs’ prospect Arismendy Alcántara. Alcántara hasn’t played at the highest level since 2017, and his career .189/.235/.315 line (49 wRC+) reflects the plate discipline woes that have done him in. He’s still just 28 years old, though, and his 2019 return to aff...

Interesting. You could also say the're set if they want to be, with Castro, Asdrubal and Kieboom taking turns at second and third. It lessens the pressure but also guards them if they trade Kieboom.

Darwin Barney, manager?

Veteran infielder Darwin Barney will manage the Rangers’ Triple-A affiliate in Nashville next season, as per a team press release. The 34-year-old Barney is taking on his first coaching or managerial job, following a playing career that saw him appear in parts of eight MLB seasons.

Kevin Plawecki got a major league contract from Boston, and Chirinos is apparently close to signing. If we're trading Wily (I don't want to), we're probably doing it soon, with more catchers off the board.

Interesting list. Some of the pitcher placements seem questionable but many of the pitchers in our system are interchangeable. My biggest surprise was the low placement of Ademan.

Hurlers Rich Hill and Homer Bailey are each in agreement on contracts with the Minnesota organization, according to Dan Hayes of The Athletic (Twitter link). Solid depth signings for the Twins. Also how is Homer Bailey ...

Re: 2019-20 Offseason Rumors/General Chit-Chat

Just looking at what teams still need, the Twins have struck out on pitching and have a great team and shaky rotation as it stands. Would something like Chatwood for Jake Cave be something that interests anyone?

OR we could go hog wild and do Quintana, Almora and a prospect or two for Buxton.

Yankees traded Chance Adams to the Royals. He was a top pitching prospect pretty recently. Nice gamble by KC.
