Re: The Spring Training Thread

Heyward's walkup music should just be Chopin's funeral march.

Hey, if he miraculously remembers how to hit, it'll still sound bad ass. Win-win.

Re: The Spring Training Thread

Until I saw they changed the angle for some of the other players, too, I thought they did it for Heyward to stop showing that the balls he was hitting would just be soft flyouts.

Re: Which Crazy Surprise Things Will Happen?

Man, Heyward sucking is such a foregone conclusion he didn't show up in the poll or the discussion yet.

Re: Guess what an idiot with a gun did this time

Honestly, who cares? The Aurora shooter was arrested. So was Dylann Roof. You’re right, it doesn’t matter. I was just curious. Although I suppose clinical psychogists have an interest in these losers being captured alive. Meh; it all comes down to that despite whatever was or wasn't wrong with them...

Re: General Baseball Chit-Chat Thread

[expletive], the Maddux thing still hurts. I was 13, and that was my first moment of real Cubs heartbreak where it was, like, "horsefeathers, maybe this team really is horsefeathers."

Re: Which Cubs jersey(s) would you buy

I'd want Javy's, but I won't get any cuz I'm too paranoid about buying jerseys with names on them, and then something happening to that player. Yeah, but most of these guys have immortal legacies as Cubs already even if they never played again. You're good. Till they get accused of rape or domestic...

Re: The Spring Training Thread

Skinny Z was NOT COOL.

Coke was a little heavy and Motte was, I think, just dirty and wore sloppy, baggy uniforms.

I forgot about Cahill; he was definitely a chunkster.

Man, who would have technically been the last fatguy pitcher they've had? Scott Eyre? I must be forgetting someone since.

And no, Zambrao definitely doesn't count. Dude was THICK.

Re: The Spring Training Thread

I'm weirdly disappointed that the Cubs haven't had a classic fatguy pitcher in forever. Lester is prob the closest thing to a fat guy on the roster Yeah, I was looking for a giant baby-looking guy with a big ol' gut, and was let down when I realized that was him at the front. Start snacking more, d...

Contreras because he's the second coolest and a bajillion people are gong to have Baez shirts/jerseys.

Rizzo because that's a great name to have on your back.

The NYT keeps ciricling the drain: https://splinternews.com/the-new-york-times-just-hired-and-maybe-unhired-a-na-1822978000 On Tuesday, the New York Times editorial board announced the hiring of Quinn Norton, a technology reporter and commentator who has written in praise of a German Nazi, defended ...

Re: Darvish to Cubs, 6/$126 Million + Incentives

Theo talks all the time about how our young, cheap, homegrown offensive talent affords us to do a lot of different things with money too, like signing Lester, etc. Should he not do that either? This seems like a silly thing to make a big deal out of. Once again, it's not a huge deal; just probably ...
