Re: 2016 Magic Number Thread

Technically, the Cubs have a magic number for each opponent, so here they are down the line: Team # ---------------- Rangers 29 Nationals 29 Indians 28 Blue Jays 26 Dodgers 26 Red Sox 26 Orioles 25 Giants 24 Tigers 23 Cardinals 23 Mariners 22 Marlins 21 Royals 21 Astros 21 Yankees 21 Pirates 21 Met...

Re: 2016 Magic Number Thread

It's looking like there is a decent chance that we clinch the division sometime during a 10-game home stand that starts September 15. https://theathletic.com/17537/2016/08/22/save-the-date-cubs-likely-to-clinch-the-nl-central-at-home/ I know it would be cool for all of the season ticket holders and...

Yeah, Rogen's been involved in a hell of a lot more movies I've enjoyed than disliked. Dude's funny.

I've enjoyed him in a lot of stuff, just not this one.

Re: Jonathan Papelbon outright released

I think we should make all players fill out a political questionnaire before we acquire them. We can't have anyone who doesn't share our political views on our team. This ain't 'Nam. How about we just settle for the lofty standards of people who don't act like (or are fans of) complete bags of [exp...

Re: Our fans suck - right this terrible wrong

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I voted for Dawson. I get that you liked Dawson and all, but Sammy is easily objectively better. You've made a wrong and bad vote and you should feel wrong and bad about it. Yes you ruined the integrity of this poll for the other 550 people who participated...

Re: Things to Do Around Chicago 2.0

I'm taking a buddy to Chicago this weekend for the first time. I grew up in the burbs and moved away when I was 18 so I don't know the city very well. I'm not looking for food recommendations but some fun touristy horsefeathers to take him too. He's on the cheap side so are there any suggestions for...

GNR was pretty [expletive] good last night. Was happy to see them play "Patience" and they added "My Michelle" to the set too. I ended up going to both shows in Chicago. Had such a [expletive] blast. Is Adler still coming out for a song or two or did that only last a few shows? ...

Yup. He's probably just thinking of the reefer they found in his room. Who was the other Cardinal player that died unexpectedly. Was his drug related? I thought maybe I confused him with Chris Farley, but Farley was 5 years earlier (1997). Josh Hancock died in a drunk driving incident years back I ...

I hate that we even have to have this discussion but 108 years is a long horsefeathering time and he's incredible at throwing the baseball. I guess I'll just hold my nose and clap with one hand when he saves a game for the Cubs.

Excellent article but this line really put it over the top.

This is Theo Epstein taking Mike Ehrmantraut's advice about not taking half measures.
