It's local awards season here in oklahoma for journos. I can't tell you how many of these horsefeathers have been "humbled" to receive their awards. No one knows how to use this term, even the people who should

My grandfather used to say that when someone "lucked out" that meant they had run out of luck/ were unlucky but for my generation it meant got lucky/ was fortunate.

Athletes misusing humbled is not new. That doesn't make it any less annoying.
