what the hell kind of horsefeathers is this...there's no lock on the door and no door between the door and the toilet?!

The Cubs’ transaction list under Epstein and Hoyer reads like a work of fiction, a wish-fulfillment list composed in hindsight.

It's one sink, one urinal, and one stall. There is no lock on the door

That doorknob needs to be changed. That is insanity.

It's a weird building. From the hallway, you enter a small locker room-ish room (a few benches along the walls) and then the another door connects to the bathroom.

I don't get why they don't just hang a flipping door though

So I recently moved to a new office building. At least 75% of the people in the building are from India. Is this really a thing?

Yup:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Squat_toilet

A massive portion of the world grows up and lives using toilet facilities where you're squatting to use them.

Also along those lines: a lot of countries have plumbing that can't handle toilet paper or wipes at all, so the practice is to actually have a trash can or waste bin for such things.

While I'm aware of the existence of squat toilets, I was not aware that our toilets were such a foreign concept to foreigners coming over that we had to tell them how to use our porcelain thrones.

Or they are aware of our customs, but are like "f it" I'm doing it my way and this is the "please don't do it your way" request?

You do something every day one way for years, or decades, and then you have to switch it up...that can be weird for a whole host of reasons.

Plus it's just a huge physical shift; the way we sit on the toilet is not natural at all, so while someone might get that it's the "custom" to sit on the toilet, doing so can be uncomfortable or even painful for someone who has never really done it. And going from squatting to sitting can impact the...quality of the business at hand, too. Obviously, that's not saying that climbing on the toilet is this easy, comfortable thing, but I get it why people would prefer it to sitting.

I'd think that would be a much more important sign to post.

Like when I busted up my shoulder and was in a sling for a week, couldn't wipe with my left hand at all. Brutal.

Somewhat along the same lines but in the old office building I worked in during my finance days, there was a jewelry maker whose warehouse took up a few suites on the 7th floor. They primarily hired Chinese workers to make the jewelry and there were signs all over the 7th floor men’s bathroom in various Chinese scripts to not spit on the bathroom floor. There were no signs like this in any of the other men’s bathrooms in the building, just the 7th floor.

I've had 2 surgeries on my right shoulder. Man, the things you take for granted when you completely use the use of your dominant arm. But that's probably a discussion for another thread.

My office/department is being moved to a more “downtown” setting. The building we’ll be moving to only has public restrooms (ie open to the rest of the building AND anyone walking by). I have an insane fear of public restrooms, and my anxiety is in full-swing about this.

I had shoulder surgery on my left shoulder back in May. It’s not my dominant hand, but it is the hand I used hold my pants when using the urinal. I had to take an extra-wide stance and hope nobody thought I was soliciting.
