Those are the exact same thing.

No. One makes you sound like a dolt when you say it. If someone asks you what year you were born, you don't say "nineteen hundred and eighty two"

People say what's easiest. "twenty-seventeen" and "two thousand seventeen" have the same syllables, so people use both.

Surely in 2006 you said "two thousand six" and not "twenty oh six"?

Yes. That was reasonable up until 2009. Then it became "twenty-ten"

Dozens. My desire for the early 2000's to be spoken as "twenty aught six" fell on deaf ears as well.

I've skipped out on 2 weddings I should have been at due to Cubs postseason games, but I just found out one that I absolutely cannot miss is going to be Oct. 21. If scheduling holds like previous years that would be the night of a potential game 6 in one LCS and game 7 in the other LCS.

I have been in this fantasy football league since 1993. Between 2005-2010 five of these idiots decided to get married the last week of August. So now every year we either have to do the draft in Mid August, risking injuries during preseason drafting early or having it during Labor day weekend. Five different guys having anniversaries between August 24-31 . That's why I got married in early December, no major sporting events and its a hell of a lot cheaper than a Summer wedding

i have a co-worker who says "two seventeen" instead of 2017. I think we can all agree that his way is worse than either.

Why are you throwing in the AND? Nobody includes the AND. Nobody says two thousand AND seventeen.

The worst is one of those dorks on CSN (Boden or Schanowski?), would always say, "back in the Twenty O Six season". That's so grating on the ears.

All of this gets resolved in 2021 when the year is just '21.

Technically 1975 was the 200th year of our states as 1776 was year 1 not year 0.

Which reminds me of another rant, the new millennium started in 2001 not 2000.

I play in a 4 team office flag football league and the playoffs were today. My team makes the championship game. We're up 6-0 late in the game and stop the other team on 4th down so we take over at our own 5 yard line with 90 seconds left. All we have to do is run the ball 3 times and we win because there are no fumbles (fumble is dead ball where it hits the ground). We run it on first and second. Then on third, we do another handoff except the guy decides to throw the ball. It gets picked off and returned for a TD. The other team gets the extra point. Game over.

Why the horsefeathers do you throw the ball? Before every play I said just run it but for some reason this guy not only throws the ball but to the middle of the field. Throw it out of bounds. There's no horsefeathering intentional grounding. Just don't throw it where the other team can get to it or just don't throw it at all.

I didn't think I could be pissed off over a rec flag football loss and yet here we are.

I'm curious how you pronounce things.

Whoops. Not my best argument, eh?

OMC is still being weird about this though.

I cannot stand when my staff are intentionally obtuse as a way of avoiding responsibility.
