Re: random rants
Anyone bought tickets on stubhub lately? I had not, but I've been selling my Cubs tickets there for years.
I tried to buy a $68 bleacher ticket today and by the time I checked out, my cost was $85.64. Hold on, I say to myself. They take a cut from my sales, as well. So I "listed" one of my tickets at $68 and saw that I'd get to keep $61 of that if they sold. So on a $68 listing, stubhub pockets $24.64, or >35%. That's horsefeathering insane. When is their ticketmaster-y class action coming?

25% to the buyer and 10% to the seller. Sounds about right, and all of the sites do it. It sucks,
Another rant:
I sell my Bears tickets on NFL ticket exchange, a site owned by the NFL and some [expletive] a couple years ago was smoking in my seats and got caught, so I get a nasty letter from the Bears saying if anyone is caught smoking again my tickets will be revoked.

That hits close to home, I work in Support and had to make a text expander to correct my spelling of account because somehow I'd go too fast and put the O between the Cs.

If you work for a government agency and you manage to snag a non-reserved front row parking spot every damn day where available parking is a HUGE rarity, I feel like driving one of those nu-Challengers with the stars and stripes painted across the entire top is just asking for everyone to hate you.

I think this can happen in any job where there's a set of words you frequently type. For me it was the word footprint. My fingers used to always want to transpose the t and the p.

Jury duty on December 24th. The Monday between Sunday and Christmas? Really!
That's my Christmas shopping day. Pretty sure that piece of horsefeathers is guilty if I gotta sit in a courtroom on December 24th.

“Before you knew it, It got 15 thousand views,” said Windlespecht, a medical device salesman who says he used to suffer obsessive compulsive disorder as a kid, but has largely conquered it as an adult.
That is, until he saw the tree covering the "N" instead of the "A" again.
When I reached him on Tuesday evening, he’d been explaining how the off-kilter view had piqued his and hundreds of others anger.
“You’ve obviously put the wreath over the ‘O’ and another wreath over the ‘U’ cause it’s kind of ‘O’ shaped, but with the tree, you didn’t give a flying f--- because you put the A shaped tree over the N,” said Winklespect, laughing. “THE ‘N’!”

Wouldn't 2 candy canes covering the "u" be even better? Or even one if 2 looked weird.

We're having a safety related issue that affects a large portion of the employees in the plant I work in and while no one is in immediate danger, it's something we're dealing with on a bit of an emergency timeline. I've had vacation scheduled for weeks, long before this came up, to be off starting tomorrow through the new year. I'm heading back to northern Illinois tomorrow with my daughter to do Christmas stuff with family, or at least that was the plan until about an hour ago when my boss informed me I'm going to be working tomorrow dealing with this situation instead of having the day off. I'm pretty horsefeathering livid right now.

Definitely. I went over my boss’s head and ended up with the day off and got a job offer as well. My boss can EAD.

I just got into a fight with a sales VP yesterday because I won't agree to make one of my engineers fly on Christmas so he can be at a customer site at 8am the day after. It's a low severity issue with a workaround in place - they can wait one more day. So far my VP hasn't called me, so I'm hoping I've won this round.
Bosses can do the right thing, it just takes some guts sometimes.

You guys are making me really happy to be in a job where I’m mostly autonomous and not answering to suits all day

I'm technically one of the suits at work, but I wear sweat pants most of the time.

This is very much a first world problem, but today is a really stupid day to be at work.
