chain hook ups, leather attachments, "fun pit", co-ed showers and other horsefeathers. I turned it down when the Cubs were 2-3 down in the world series, but the guy was someone who used to be my best friend. My license would have been on it, and that would have been what's known as "plan stamping" and illegal since I didn't oversee the design.

I'm just not into that horsefeathers guys, and I like my license.

I'm not sure how you get co-ed showers through the building dept since it's not allowed by code and the "fun pit" called out alll kinds of osha issues.

I mean, in my defense.

Some of you people live “normal” lives and have “normal” posts. In my defense, im so far beyond that horsefeathers.

Sammys Boombox wrote:I work from home answering technical questions for our customers through a call line. I absolutely love having my basement office where I get to control the thermostat, put whatever I want on TV, play with my kids toys (miniature hockey, basketball, etc). And on Monday and Friday the wife and kids are at home, so it’s cool walking upstairs for a few minutes to say hi.

The vast majority of our callers are pretty good, actually. But there are a handful that when you see their names pop up on the screen you immediately get deflated.

We have one guy who calls for help, but then he just talks constantly without really saying anything. “I did this and that and then tried some other stuff and it’s not working.” But he literally just says “this and that”. No details whatsoever. He never lets you talk. I’m serious when I say that I listened to him talk for 90 minutes yesterday and did not once ever ask him a question or provide him any information, but he finally figured out whatever it was he was trying to do. I’m still not sure what he was even trying to do. Every now and then he would take a breath from his ramblings to ask if I was still there. That’s pretty much the only time I talked.

One of my favorite things about my current job as a consultant is that I am expected to interrupt people who ramble on aimlessly and ruthlessly get to the heart of the matter. At my early jobs in customer service, that was not something I had the freedom to do, and I hated it. I think a lot of those frequent callers are just lonely and want to take advantage of a captive audience, but that's totally not fair to the person of the other line

Can I hire you to come interrupt one of my co-workers? She's been here for a couple months now and will not. shut. the. horsefeathers. up. On top of that, she talks ridiculously fast. She'll also ask a question and just keep talking, not giving anyone the opportunity to answer.

If she were called to give testimony in court, I guarantee the stenographer would have a stroke.

As a teacher I mostly am able to avoid contact with annoying co workers. They make up for that whenever we all have to be somewhere. Some of these transcend the teaching profession such as:

That guy that asks a question at the end of a meeting that only applies to his situation. Wait until the meeting is over. No one else cares and you're keeping us here in a meeting that no one, including the people running it, wants to continue.

That person that starts making 1000 copies of something then leaves. The copier inevitably either breaks or runs out of paper and someone else has to deal with that.

That bi polar whack job that pops up out of nowhere if anyone mentions (in this case her) name in conversation.

"Reply all" email guy. This may happen more here since older teachers are very often Luddites who don't know any better. This is especially annoying whenever someone is congratulating someone for something and the higher ups all feel that it will look bad if they don't also congratulate that person. So there becomes a steady stream of emails that start out "I too want to congratulate..."

In fairness it's likely these people aren't work jerks they're just people.

This thread makes me feel extremely lucky that the only thing I have to worry about is an office that gets too hot to work in with the door shut and the resulting noise/interruptions of working with the door open

Yep, I posted that first message from my office. The one that I have. This one right here.

The point being that this rant should REALLY be against the person who thought it was a good idea to make most people work in cubicles or out in the open instead of in private where they can ignore eachother's filthy selves

Pretty close. Our offices are all in the basement, so we have no windows. I think my office is (at most) 10 feet by 10 feet, so it heats up quickly with the door closed.

Also, I would have gone with Milton from Office Space
