Here is a topic that IMO is a candidate for a sticky:

I was wondering if you all would be interested in contributing links to sites you know about that are fan sites, knowledgeable sites, or both, that are devoted to non-Cubs teams (and their minor league affiliates), or professional baseball sites that have not been assimilated by MLB. I tried this on DD's site, but it didn't catch on. :-(

Help a hapless baseball fanatic, please?

Cle and Salty frequent there, and NC Cubbie signed up (I think) near the time I did.

Gotcha; thanks. Cle (who subscribes to my newsletter) mentioned the site in an email a few weeks back; never been there, though. If the Salty you mention isn't E. R. "Salty" Saltwell (and I feel sure it isn't), I have no more notion of who he is than I have about DD. As for NC Cubbie, hmmm, judging by the name, sounds like a disreputable sort...

http://www.baseball-reference.com has about every stat for every player

That's a good one. I also like BaseballLibrary.com. It has a lot of biographical and anecdotal information. They also have a list of what folks have been reading from the site lately (see "recent jumps" on the upper left hand side).

Downside is the stats on current players are at least a year out of date. I have seen some updates, but it's willy nilly. I've found it best for past players (and managers), or to refresh my recollection on the earlier years of current players' careers.

Salty (I think the actual screen name is SaltyCub or something like that) used to post on the cubs.com board as (I think) CubAZ or something like that (The AZ was short for Arizona, where he used to live). He has since moved to Salt Lake City, which is what the Salty refers to. He's registered here and has posted a few times, although I don't think for quite a while.

I made it into a sticky (you actually could have done that yourself by clicking on Sticky at the bottom of the post). If the administrators don't think this should be a sticky they can always undo what I did.

Reminds me of my last annual review - the boss said people don't realize the power they have. :D Thanks!

marlinsbaseball.com is a great Marlins site. I actually found that before finding this site. The membership is knowledgeable and courteous, even though they root for the enemy. And what a shocker that the Marlins have a good fan site, being that they have about 20 fans.

http://Brewerfan.net- is one of the best out there. Also covers the MLB draft. Message board included.

http://Battersbox.ca- is a site devoted to the Jays, but some of the articles are non-Jays related and are good reads. Lively discussion from readers in the comments section of the articles.

http://Orioleshangout.com- has a lot of Orioles info, but it is pay. Message board included.

http://Twinsgeek.com- is a nice site devoted to the Twinkies.

http://Newbergreport.com- has top notch coverage of the Rangers system with regular reports.

The http://all-baseball.com network has blogs for a bunch of different teams, two are for the cubs, Will Carrol and Chirstian Ruzich (sp?).

If your looking for non-team specific sites, I would suggest the http://baseballthinkfactory.com network as well as the promising http://hardballtimes.com. Two other good general sites are: http://baseballmusings.com and http://futilityinfielder.com.

It's one of the baseballthinkfactory.com sites, but Baseball Primer is just about the best site on the web. They link to many articles around the web each day and have discussion about them. It's very sabremetric oriented, so if you enjoy that it is a great resource, and if you don't like it then you should visit and learn yourself something.

Yes it is a baseball think factory site and I agree that it is a fine site. Currently, they are moving to a new site so it should be even better although one of their top sabermetrics writers is no longer there.
