Any speculation as to what's going on? Hopefully nothing serious if it's health related like these things seem to be.

Yeah hopefully there’s no serious health issues going on with him or a family member and this is just a way of it not being a straight up firing

The Cubs have been weirdly coy about not being able to announce anything with the staff. They knew this was coming or forced the personal reason to let Hickey save face.

During a "Not For Women Only" panel discussion, former Cubs pitcher Mike Bielecki asked several players to invent a baseball catch phrase for Viagra. Theriot's ad campaign: "Viagra -- I always play hard."

Nah, I don't think it's a cover. With as weird as they've been about this, I definitely think it was something that they knew was probably coming, and was a legit personal situation. If they were just letting him save face, they would've done it at the same time as the other coaches.

Agreed, I'm sure there's some HIPPA stuff going on here and that's why it's as hush hush as it's been.

And in a pinch, he can probably get you 30 or 40 innings out of the pen.

Tribune mentioned Farrell who has ties to Theo and sons that worked/pitched for Cubs. Also, if a Maddon extension doesn't get done you have an in-house candidate.

Well I have a relationship with Bryan Price, so that would be cool for me.

Just bring in Chuck Hernandez on a one year deal, it'll be almost impossible to get a young coach on the rise with a potential lame duck manager.

Well, why would you, it's the Internet, someone's definitely bound to believe your BS! Hell, there should even be an Internet rule (like Rule 34) that states this : the less realistic a claim is, the more obnoxious and fanatical the ones believing it will be!

Maddon said last week's departure of pitching coach Jim Hickey was not heath related but said he couldn't get into specifics of what the "personal reasons" were. "He's fine," Maddon said. "He's not ill. His health is fine."
