Great throw by Schwarbs. Amazing tag by Baez.

Great exchange in comments lol:

That needs to be the new “fun yeah!“ gif that used to get posted when Lackey did it.

The Cubs’ transaction list under Epstein and Hoyer reads like a work of fiction, a wish-fulfillment list composed in hindsight.

Loving the production out of Schwarber - both offensively and defensively. He's on a mission.

I feel like Schwarber’s offense is getting lost in the discussion of his defense and Javy’s offense. He’s been ridiculously productive. Bryantesque level.

Schwarber now has seven outfield assists. Seven! He doesn't have a cannon for an arm, but he's accurate and faster to the ball this year. I wonder when dumb teams will stop running on him... I really miss Baez because the tag from Zobrist was not great.

Anyway, keep up the good work Schwarbs!

For real, if you pause that video and go frame by frame you see just how badly Zobrist tagged there and almost blew the play.

Is this the first time a "best shape of his life" offseason actually resulted in an entirely different player?

Just another reminder that Kyle currently has a 6.7 UZR, which is the sixth highest in the MLB for an OF

Saw this article earlier today about Schwarber's defense. Also makes reference to Harper's defense this year, or lack of.

Link to Cubs.com Article

Quickly, what do those numbers say? Well, Baseball Reference ranks Schwarber five runs above average. John Dewan, who has been studying defense forever, has him plus-one on his plus-minus scale (which estimates how many plays above or below the average player are made). Fangraphs has Schwarber five runs above average. The Statcast™ folks have him slightly below average but show him holding his own.

So I don't really kow what to make of his defense.

Thoughts??
